WeLl I was taking acutane while I was about 3weeks pregnant I only took about 6pills and my son is perfect he jus had a birthday and he is talking laughing and playing with everybody like a normal baby would he is not quite walking yet tho. All I have to say put everything in Gods hand.

Do not take Accutane if you can't be responsible and not get pregnant. The warninings are there for a reason.

I am not a medical expert and I wont pretend to be but I have been on accutane and know a bit more about it than most. There is a chance that it might have already affected the baby, with that said the affects will not yet be severe and in some cases they may be irreversible. But, the baby may not be affected due to you only taking the drug for a week. Either way it is a child and I highly disagree with one of the previous commentors who insisted you abort the baby. It is still a child, your child. Best of luck, for you and your baby I hope things go well.

I am currently on my fifth course of Accutane from http://z-isotretinoin.info . When I began my first course in 2003 as a 14-year-old, I had extremely severe cystic acne. My face, neck, throat, chest, and back were all covered with acne. I had absolutely no self confidence whatsoever. To be perfectly honest, I hated my life. Within two months of beginning Accutane, my acne began to improve. By the time my first course was finished, I had gone from having severe cystic acne to completely acne-free. I had regained my confidence, and I began to truly enjoy life.

Anybody who gets pregnant while on accutane needs to consider this:
-Do you want your child to have the best possible start in life or not?

-Do you want to deliver a baby with the very strong possibility that it will die young or that you might still be feeding it milk and wiping it's arse when you're 70? I have several down-syndrom people in my family PRIMARILY because their parents were over 40 and were too idiotic to take the damn test.

-you need to realize that having an abortion might be traumatic, but having a disabled child die on you at age 12 is several orders of magnitude MORE pain.

Accutane is well known to cause birth defects. That your child can actually get birth defects if the father was using it means there is NO safe level for accutane and pregnancy, because the amounts of accutane delivered through semen are tiny compared to just ONE pill.

Basically, you need to abort if you are on accutane or have been recently. Knowingly having a child while on a highly teratogenic drug is both irresponsible and EXTREMELY EGOCENTRIC. You are thinking of your own desire to have children and NOT about the wellbeing of your children. That's very selfish behaviour.
Abort, and simply try in a year. The fact that you got pregnant means all the machinery works so there is no sane reason to go ahead now, only stupid ones.

It's not for nothing that they've got an official program to actual monitor and prevent this type of stupidity you know...

Today it is with much sadness and regret that I have decided to get an abortion. I was on 40mg for 17 days and just discovered I am 6 weeks pregnant. Please understand that I have prayed for a baby for the last 5 years and we hadn't been successful, so reaching this decision is heart wrenching as I don't know how long (if ever) it will be until I get pregnant again. Yet I believe that being a mum is doing the best for your children, and how cruel would I be to bring my child into a life they cannot live. I will always love my teeny tiny dot but must remember that it wasn't yet a baby and I am doing the least selfish thing. However since going through all this, I have been researching roaccutane side affects and decided to discontinue using the drug as although not yet proven... I have found thousands of women with fertility issues after taking it, and the chance to have a family is far more important than my vanity! Just so you know, my options with this pregnancy were to have an abortion, scans every 6 weeks to check for defects, naturally miscarry at any stage, have the child and risk deformities or mental issues as well as heart conditions. There are reports of babies being born ok then dying at 9 weeks or even as infants. When 122 babies out of 328 are deformed and the rest with iq's below 85.... you have no hope for a perfectly healthy baby, but you will do next time when you get things right! Just remember, don't have this child out of guilt that you caused this and that you providing its care is your punishment.. That is so selfish, be a mum and think of what's best for your child.....

Please help I need as much information as possible I've read endless amounts of reports if defects 1980's - 2000! I need to know if ANYONE has had a baby whilst taking accutane ! Reports show 86% aborted meaning they do not know a true reflection of high defects are! Unknown really and accutane has changed since the 80's. I'm seeing various consultants with help BUT it seems they are for me having termination!:( so against them personally. I'm 11 weeks.
