I just completed my sixth month on Accutane... I was wondering if anyone could tell me from their experience if and when the redness subsides from your face?

I asked my derm this question and she said anywhere from 3-6 months. I have like 15 days left of my six week course and this is also a concern of mine.

I'm taking accutane right now..and my face is extremely red with little irritated dots around my nose and lower mouth..I have no zits at all which is great..but my skin doesn't look all that great when its really red and irritated looking...is there anything I can do to minimize this...is this a sign that the doseage level might have to be lowered?

thanks in advance.

well ive been on it for four months now i a found that even the littlest exposure to sun makes your face look really red and irritated so if you can, dont go out in the sun at all and when you do, you have to use, non-oil based high spf sunscreen!!!! i think that answers your question

Yeah make sure to wear sunscreen everyday while on accutane to minimize damage and redness of your fragile skin. The skin while on accutane won't heal fast, so it's best to be patient and wait till you're done and then the redness really starts to fade.

It takes up to 6 months after ending the accutane treatment for the rednes to go away. There is NO TOPICAL cream that you can use in this time period that will work. Use mild cleansers, spend a little more for quality moisturizers, use sunscreen daily and most of the effects will subside. It just takes a little time, but believe me, it is worth the wait.

Well im about a month in a half into accutane and now im starting to see results. I have redness but its going away, im using Neutrogena anit-oxidant age reverse day lotion with SPF 20 as a moisterizer and I think its really reducing the redness plus it help with the dryness. It also feels really light on my skin. I def. recommend it its like $20 at walgreens.

Witch hazel works really well with making the redness go away. I have been dealing with this for over 15 years. And the only thing that works on me for the redness is the witch hazel. I have been on EVERY ace med there is including accutane twice.

The red colouring is a form of combine statin pigment, keep on with the medication and wait it out that's my advice. It will fade after the course of treatment.

I have not been on Acutane, as my acne was apparently not that severe ( although it realy was), but the Retin A gel made my face extremely red and irritated, like yours. Although it cleared up my spots, I Still dont realy feel comfortable with my skin as there are like red marks and stuff. But the redness should calm down over time, it did to me. But it takes time. The good thing is that you can easily mask the redness using like a mineral powder or something, which is hard to do if you have lots of spots. :)

these red dots will defrinately go. I was worried because my acne spread all over my face, and in the first 2 months of treatment the majority of spots cleared up, but left red marks, dots. they will definately go, ewven though it seems like they wont :)
