I've been on Accutane for approx. two weeks. I don't have terrible acne, it's just mild, but other treatments were not working. I think I'm on a pretty low dosage right now.

Well, last week, my hands started to dry out--the top, not my palms. My skin started cracking and peeling, and now it has turned into a bumpy red rash, COVERING my hands. It's disgusting.

What the hell is it?! Has anyone else gotten something similar?

And this is in addition to the EXTREMELY chapped lips and dry skin around the mouth. Not to mention a few nosebleeds.

likewise .. likewise

i asked my doctor about the psoriasis/rash on my hands and he said that it will come and go just use eucerine cream. he was right, it came and went. but its NOT permanent so dont worry. nosebleeds are normal because most pple experience them. use vaseline.

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one who had this exact type of rash on the top of my hands but I guess not. I know your not going to like the sound of this but here is my experience with the rash. Started to get itchy and turned red, all of a sudden it got more irritating but I left it alone, ok ok I rubed it a little but that was it. Then I left it alone for about 2 weeks keeping away from really warm water which irritated it even more but after a while when the redness went away completly and the scabs turned a really dark color then I started to scratch it off and it was painless, the dead skin came right off and with some Cetaphil lotion it completly healed. I know I was scared it would hurt too but it didn't you just have to know when to scratch the dead bumby skin off at the right time. Hope this helps....

I got the rash on my hands as well. And a little bit on my arms too, I thought I was the only one LOL.
Use cetaphil cream, since I used it and my hands are pretty clear now.

Got the rash on my hands aswell, as well dry spots on my arms! But as long as i moisturised, i could put lotion on at night and it would be gone by the morning!

for anyone thats just starting up with accutane... you should definitely start lotioning every part of you body right away -even when it seems like you don't need it. I'm on my second course of accutane now and i found that moisturizing from the start really mitigated the bumps, itching, and dryness. I use cetaphil body cream, but im sure any other lotion your derm recommends would help also!

good luck all!

Hey guys. I was on solodyn for a month, a new type of minocycline expect that it is "time release," anyways it didn't work, so I started to take accutane 60mgs right away. After a week I notice that my legs and arms were itchy so I stoped taking accutane. I wanted to know if it was because the solodyn and accutane interacted? if anyone knows please respond.

Yep, I have that too. must be a pretty common side effect. It wasn't too bad until yesterday, but last night I just covered the backs of my hands with aquaphor and when I woke up this morning it looked much better. I think I'll try it again tonight and from the looks of it right now, it might be all better. :)

My hands and wrists did the same. Doc told me it's a form of excema being caused by the accutane. Ask your docs to give you elidel cream.

I got the same rash on the top of my hands also. It itches and burns, and it keeps on getting worse because i work in a hospital and I wash my hands constantly. I was prescribed a steroid cream. Doesn't seem to be getting better. Oh well i guess i got to deal with it, atleast my face is clearing up very nicely.

I had it on the arm and it went away very quickly with some Cetaphil. Now it appeared on my arm and Ive been having some problems getting rid of it. Ive tried putting cetaphil on it but not too much success. Any suggestions. There are like little red marks on my arm. bicep elbow area.

About the dry lips. Seriously.... Try Dr. Dan's chapstick. Its awesome. I got it off ebay very cheap and seriously its the best thing out. Its made for accutane users specifically. I rarely if ever get dry lips now and I only use it 2-3 times a day.

Ok... the first major thing with accutane is that it works from the inside out. Its not an over the night miracle. With experience you will figure out what works for you while on the medication. I had an extremely dry face but now im month 3 and my body has adjusted to it and it is not red anymore. About the dry lips... I had terrible dry and cracked lips. Try Dr. Dans Corti-balm. It is the best thing out there. I bought it on ebay very cheap and I rarely ever get dry lips. It is worth the few dollar investment.. trust me. About the rash. I had it on my hand. Went away with some Cetaphil. Now I got a rash on the arms. It has been bothering me for a week now so I'm having problems with it. Any advice? Im trying cetaphil but not too much success yet.

Man, i have the rash on my arms too, ask your dermatologist about 'Locoid Lipocream' thats what i got. It works great. I put it on at night and for the most part its gone in the morning. Only problem is ive been having this problem since about month 2 of my accutane treatmeant. I am now on month 6 ( my last hopefully ) and the rash still comes every few days. But yea, ask your derma. and tell me what he/she says!

I have it too. It's not really itchy for me, it just looks like a few dry skin patches, but its not that bad and it's only on my arms. I have noticed though that the skin on the top of my hands seem thinner, maybe I'm just imagining it.

I'm not taking Accutane or anything like that. But I still get the little red bumps all over my hands. And nothing seems to work. My hands arn't dry either, they are actually right in between dry and oily. Any other suggestions?

I got the rash pretty bad. But I had my monthly appointment, and the derm said to use Dove soap (or Dove bodywash) because it moisturizes the skin. Also, she gave me Cordran Lotion. Its a sample, but it cleared up my rash in about a day.
