Does Accutane cause weight loss or gain?

During the first week on it, I lost 5 pounds and then another 5 pounds, but since then I have gained it back and feel like my clothes don't fit as well anymore. I am a 16 year old male, and acne has been a problem for almost a year now, also I never had breakouts on my back and chest, but since starting the medication, I have mild acne on both. As for my face, it looks good one day, then bad the next. My side effects are very dry skin on my lips, chin, nose, eyebrows and scalp, and I sometimes feel nauseas but it only happens if I take it before I eat. I really hope this works in the 4 months I am on it because my parents are throwing out a lot of money on this as insurance considers it cosmetic, and doesn't pay a penny of it. But as others have said, chapstick helps with the dry lips. Also, the blood tests aren't so bad. PLEASE WORK!

Also, I wash my face with a mild soap called Cetaphil. It feels really good when you rub your face with it and washes off easily.

i lost a stone on rocaccutane, and i was skinny as it was and now i look like a horrible stick and cant put the weight back on, how do i put the weight back on?!

I have always had problems with high doses of caffeine and in coffee even a single cup is guaranteed to cause terrible cramps and guaranteed pimples inthe following days.

I've tried both original brand and generic accutane. I prefer generic accutane - There is no difference in effectiveness as far as I can tell between the brand and generic versions. The real difference is price, no comparison. And this suppliers seem honest and reliable. On the site http://z-isotretinoin.info I've just placed my 3rd order.

Not to burst your bubble, but for the first two-three months you will break out so bad it will crack, bleed, dry everything out, and be very painful. which is normal. i was embarrassed to leave my house at all because of it. but at month 4 i started clearing up and by month 6 i was perfectly clear and my skin had adjusted and was back to normal. the only thing that was still affected was lips. chapped as anything.

I started taking 80 mgs a day a little over a week ago and my face is itchy and peeling. I'm using the soap that the Dr recommended and the lotion but I still peel. My acne has also flared up this past week....anyone have similar experiences with the peeling, dry skin??

Hi,
I had the same dry, painful feeling soap while washing my face. Cetaphil didn't do a whole lot, I felt like it made my skin more oily. I've been using a soap free face gel the pharmacist recommended called, "Basis." I have been having a hard time finding it, so I switch to, "Simple." It feels so much better to wash now.

im in my second month of accutane 80mg and have lost a lot of weight. My dr said nothing about this and i still have until end july to finish. Im gonna go crazy should i continue to lose weight, changing wardrobe was never part of the plan just the skin!

I've been taking accutane for the past 3months and although it's working well with little side effects (touch wood)... I have gained alot of weight and ok i dont excersise but then I never did. I've gone from being a size 12 to a big size 14, I eat salad and fruit everyday for work and my tea generally consits of veg. So I dont know whats going on, I'm hoping it is the accutane making me put on weight at least I would have a reason for getting fat... But help is needed.

Hi Amanda, I put on 20 pounds when I took the acctuane. I've been off of it for almost 2 months and the weight is still on. I'm going to have to go to the gym to get back to my old jean size. I was upset with the weight gain because I was just 8 pounds from my goal weight after losing 23 pounds, now I'm back to square one. If you exercise and eat right, the weight should come off once you stop the medicine.

I've gained weight while on accutane and I'm starting my third month. It's not that I eat more, but I haven't been seeing the same results I used to get from working out while I wasn't on the medicine. I weighed 120 and now I'm about 126 and my stomach is no longer flat. Besides its literally a pain to work out when on the medicine because it makes my back and legs sore.

I dont knw abt u guys but I have just started my 3rd month course on accutane when I went back to college evry one started to wonder why I lost weight I didnt believe it first but then all the boys were commenting on my weight loss as well as my teachers cz my cheeks are gone n stuff and I dont even exercise or anything.and I am having the same eating habits.so best of luck to you all

Def lost a lot of weight on Accutane on an already thin girl. My panties were even too big. Since being off Accutane I have gained the weight back which I'm happy about. Since I started Accutane and got diagnosed with MS at the same time it was hard to tell which drug was causing weight loss. In the end I discovered it was Accutane not Rebut.

Most acne medicines make your acne worse before it gets better because first your body has to get rid of all the shit causing your acne so when it gets worse that's all the crap trying to leave

this is my 3rd time trying Accutane. I'm in my 40's, and this is getting crazy!!! The first time worked really great almost zero side effects. 2nd time no difference in weight. This time around, I can't eat anything!I'm already slim so.IF i LOOSE WEIGHT I'll BE UNDER WEIGHT. now I feel like I can't eat at all. I eat NOTHING ALL DAY. I'm NOT HUNGRY, at all. i force food in me before bed time.(that's when I take my pill). I hope things get back to normal soon.
