Temporarily Stopping Accutane

Is it okay to stop accutane for a week or two and then start again. I'm going on a trip soon and would like to enjoy the sun, not avoid it.

Well, I think it is possible to stop accutane for a few weeks and have no ill effects, but that's also a bad thing in your case. Since the side effects don't stop for about a month after you stop taking it, the sun will still be hard on your skin. I'm no dermatologist of course, but maybe you'd be okay if you used a lot of sunscreen.

I've read somewhere that it takes one or two months for accutane to completely leave your system, why do you think that derms. will not give you a second course until 2 months after your first course. It's because accutane still works for people even after 1-2 months of stopping the treatment and you will still have the side effects for a while so I wouldn't suggest that you stop. I get really worried when I miss even one dose. But yea I'm not a derm.

Well, considering why I'm taking Accutane in the first place, I'd continue the course and would just use a lot of sunblock...and put a cute hat on, if convenient?:)

I fought with acne throughout my teenage years and tried everything to get rid of it (proactiv, neutrogena, retin-a, clean and clear, you name it). I experienced quite an initial breakout soon after I started accutane but was expecting it and told myself my skin would get better. I’m now in the last week of my treatment and my skin is flawless.
