I started claravis (a generic version of accutane) exactly 8 days ago. I take a pill every morning and every night(40mg). I'm experiencing very dry skin and lips and the acne is getting worse. I have big red bumps on my nose and I'm hoping its going to get better really soon. I put on lots of chapstick which helps with the lips, and use an oil free moisturizer for my face after every shower.

Hello. I've been on accutane for about a week and some now. Face has seem to get worse. What I don't understand is how this just happened out of blue. This is a very humbling experience. At times I try not to show my emotion. I have really never cried in my life until now. I hate to walk in public, make eye contact, or even go into work. I try not to get depressed about this. I see lots of people going through simular experience. I don't want to get depressed at all. Trying hard to stay positive. My side effects are dry lips right now. And this strong tingle I've been having since taking medication. I am only taking 1 pill 40mg a day. The cysts are still coming and I'm wondering. Is there a paticular face wash that would help ?
Thank you, The frog. |

Omg my acne is so much worse now.
On 22 June i started accutane but after 18 days I had to stop because of a severe flare up , I went 2 weeks on antibiotics + prednisone , and now I'm re-takeing accutane.I'm on day 5 again but on a very low dose 20mg daily , and 20mg daily of prednisone , with this dosage will my acne clear ??If the dosage is bigger i will clear up faster?Pls answer |

@Andrewbleah ive been on roaccutane (accutane) 3 different times and I am starting my 4th term now... My first term i had alot of spots but it cleared them up significantly but not fully which is why i went on it for a second time which got completley rid of them...then about a year later they came back so i started again and the same thing happened again this year so i am once again going back on it.. It gets worse before better and yes the higher the dose the more of an impact it has. Initially i was on 40 mg but since i am on 20mg daily and just aim for the 3-4 month mark and I promise you you will see an improvement. Try stay on it for minimum 6 months as the longer you stay on it I find for me the longer I am clear afterwards. Hope this helps

I've tried both original brand and generic accutane. I prefer generic accutane - There is no difference in effectiveness as far as I can tell between the brand and generic versions. The real difference is price, no comparison. And this suppliers seem honest and reliable. On the site http://z-isotretinoin.info I've just placed my 3rd order.

Ive been on clarus which is the same as accutane for about a month and a bit. At the 3 week mark all inflammation went down and my skin was looking much better! But as of late my face has broken out again and I keep puttin on an oil free non pore clogging moisturizer but it seems like it is getting worse. Is this just a phase?

This is my 9th day of my accutane(isotretinoin orifarm) cure, and my acne is absolutely terrible, and yesterday i counted more than 50 whiteheads just in my face... It really affects my social life: I really do not want to go out in public, make eye-contact and I'd rather not go to school (skipped school yesterday).
My acne is worst around my mouth - probably the worst possible place to have acne. But I guess I have to stay strong and just keep taking the pills, as my doctor said: "If it gets worse at first, it only shows that it's working". Has anybody got acne the same place as I do? How long should I expect it to be this bad? Any advises? |

Hey Aere.
I am on my 11th day of accutane at 20mg a day. I have ance around my mouth and jaw line and it seems to be pretty consistent since starting accutane, cant say i have had an initial breakout. i have had a few big cystic ones come and go on my back and neck. What is your dosage? |
|

Anthony: My dosage is 40 mg a day (2 20 mg pills taken at night).
The initial breakout ended Sunday, and even though I still have some acne on around my mouth and on my back, shoulders and chest, it's a lot better now. My skin (especially on my face) seems dryer, so the acne goes away a lot faster than they usually do. The only side effect I have noticed is dry lips, but it's not that bad. When I had that bad breakout I got pretty depressed, but I am pretty sure it was because of the acne. This is my 12th day so we started almost at the same time, so maybe we should keep each others updated?:) |

Aere: I have noticed since my last post that i have broken out worse too. Was it a noticeable change when it stopped on Sunday? I am thinking about upping my dose to 40mg a day as well. I did feel a little depressed as well with the breakout but i have to remind myself that its all in the head aha
I have had dry lips too, but also sore back and joints. Definitely should keep each other updated. |

I have been on accutane for about a month now, before my acne wasn't that bad, i'd get a few big pimples thats it! but i tried all the treatments and creams and nothing worked! My skin now is worse than ever, it's not a few pimples like before, theyre all little red bumps all over my face! and don't get me started on the blackheads, they're covered! I'm just wondering, is this the drug pushing out all the bad acne? before clearing! i hope it gets better soon, i feel so embarrased and always covering my face :(

Jack: Before your face can be clear, all the shit has to come out, right? It will get better, just keep taking your accutane, and you will thank yourself later.
Anthony: Well, when I woke up, I all the acne were still there, but a lot dryer, and ready to go away, and when I woke up on Monday, my face looked much better. Now, a week after the breakout I have no acne, and it actually seems like my scars are going away too. My face probably hasn't looked this good in 1 1/2 year! Still has some acne on my back, shoulders and chest, but it is clearing up and that acne never bothered me too much. |

Aere: thats good to hear. A lot of my redness has faded and seems to appear better. One thing i have noticed is that pimples will come and go very quickly, a lot quicker than before acctuane. Its good to hear that your scars are clearing aswell as it is a concern of mine. We are 16 days in so sounds fairly good.

I just started accutane, actually on my 8th day now. I mostly notice the dry lips, and slightly dry skin which feels quite sore. The only concern I have is the nose bleeds, my derm said that if I have nose bleeds to contact him immediately so of course I made an appt. but after reading MANY other accutane stories.. many of them seem to involve nose bleeds so I am hoping I don't have to worry.. I'm nervous about it getting worse before it gets better too, nothing worse than showing up to college looking like a mess; but in the end I know it will totally be worth it, hope everyone else's experience continues to get better!:)

My acne is still clearing up, I've got no pimples in my face at the moment, and just a few on my shoulders.
My skin is so dry that it looks like it's cracking up (especially on my upper arm and hands), any tips for a good moisturizing cream? I started nose bleeding two days ago for the first time, but it was very mild and stopped right away, and from what I've read it's normal and comes from the dryness. I'm almost three weeks in now, and I am very positive about this cure. |

My acne has no improvement since my last post. I have yet to get the infamous nose bleed. Can you let me know when it gets worse? How are your lips? I have been using Vitamin E oil on mine, works very good but you cant forget to put it on otherwise they will get REALLY dry.

AERE - for a good moisturizer try the burt's bees line of products most are 99% natural so there are no extra perfumes or chemicals added that will irritate your skin, plus it is extremely good at keeping skin moist for a long time. I apply once in the morning and once before bed.. and my skin isn't dry at all.(I can tell because I forgot one day and and it started to flake)
