Attention! Attention!

Until further notice, 9/11 will no longer be referred to as a terrorist attack.

It will now be known to this administration as "an unfortunate coincidence of controlled flight into terrain" (industry term), "probably due to pilot error."

That is all.

Hawaii is lucky. Tourism to the
Islands is mostly Mainland wealthy
visitors who are not affected by
the Recession. So hotels can continue to offer $400 rooms. The big loss is in
conventions...an area which Hawaii
has contempt for as can be seen in the
awful Convention Center.

"On Maui, decisions are being considered that could deprive Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. and our residents of a most basic need: water.

HC&S, which runs Hawaii's last sugar cane plantation, needs water to survive. We, the people of Maui, need water for our social and economic growth. Ignoring our needs and denying the gravity of the current economic crisis, which will impact us for generations to come, is irresponsible and unacceptable."

This is what happens when people and/or businesses create an imbalance in the equilibirum whether on Maui or on O'ahu.

Even if they built all the systems to divert it and NOW builders want to take over so they can build condos?

Ms. Little,

It is not the pedestrians job to wait for a break in traffic. It is the car drivers job to not be an idiot and pay attention. You really should not be driving if you believe what is in you letter. Pedestrians have the right of way in a crosswalk. Please get oout of your car- forever.

Ms. Kosanke,
Please be advised that Hawaii has a State law the requires the use of Generic drugs. There are signs posted at every drug store. What no can read? You are special from the rest of us? My HMSA health plan also requires me to get generic drugs. If you think this is a problem now, wait till your buddy Obama gets done with you. Lucky if you can get a aspirin. The obama care will require you to get the cheapest forgien made drug. Just wait and see. Be thankful now that you can get something.

Your newspaper will not print items that degrade Democrats--i.e. Clinton's picture at the Punchbowl---but if it were Bush W you would print it--right???

The Fort Hood killer Hasan was involved with Islamic terror elements. But the media still, still does not want to acknowledge the truth. That's downright dangerous because people are dying all over the world, the victims of terrorism generated by fanatical Muslims. It's time the American media wised up, got honest, and told the folks exactly the danger we all face.

To the California fan of GWBush. It would be a downright disgrace for any newspaper to publish a picture of Bush, an AWOL deserter in time of war, at any National Memorial Cemetery. It was terrible that he was allowed to lay a wreath at Arlington while serving as the appointed head of state. Clinton's military service record was not much better, but at least he served us well as Commander in Chief. Bush failed at that too.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 30% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -10 (see trends). Republicans have opened a six-point lead on the Generic Congressional Ballot.

Sixty percent (60%) say that the Fort Hood shootings should be investigated by the military as a terrorist act. Just 27% prefer a criminal investigation by civilian authorities.

This Veterans Day, 81% of Americans have a favorable opinion of the U.S. military. Thirty-six percent (36%) had a close friend or relative who gave their life for our country. A Rasmussen video report notes that 69% say that military service is good for young people.

Pres. Bush served in the Air National Guard. Every time he got in a jet fighter, he risked his life. The testimony of the military paymaster in Alabama and his then-girlfriend proved that he was based in Alabama, serving his requirements. Only those so rabidly anti-Bush still believe the lies.("Bush derangement syndrome")
As for Clinton, what "military service?" He dodged his military service after promising to serve. His draft board records somehow have disappeared but we have the testimony from the head of his local draft board. Clinton promised to serve after returning from his Rhodes Scholarship in Britain.

I'm not a fan of either GW or Clinton, but GW was not a deserter or AWOL (there is a difference). The fact that he joined the Guard to evade the draft is a given, just as tens of thousands did across the country. But he served. Clinton's had no military service record at all. He was a blatant draft dodger who evaded all military service because it didn't fit his personal agenda.
