Brenda Indiana wrote: Hey jack in Ohio, I have the bad boys from Houston, Tx. VLC I know but I have had good luck with them, and I signed a fee agreement with my Atty back in 2004 for 30% atty fees so they have to honor it, they told me. Grant, my Atty called last week on Sat morning, I was out working in the yard and did not get the call, so I called him back and he was out of the office, that is why he call me. If I call they usually call me back within 24 to 48 hrs. if they are not in the office. Grant goes to all the monthly meeting, he did miss 1, but he always let me know what is going on. I hope we all have a great and safe 4th of July. The 7th is my birthday and I will be 60 so I want to party a little over the holiday for my birthday so I amj staying around my daughters. I can go upstair and hit the bed if I have to. We are going to cook out and have family and frienda over. Have a great 4th. Brenda, Happy Early Birthday the 7th!! My Birthday is also the 7th!! I was told by my attorney and Brown/Greer both that everything was running as scheduled and final checks would be going out Sept 30th, of course like the last time they go to the attorneys first,, then on to us after we sign another recap form, so I would give or take an additional 30 days, so around the last of October maybe, there is not suppose to be a big delay this time like it was with the first one, so I was told. Now someone else's attorney may say likewise, but I am just sharing the info I got. Luckily, mine will e-mail me back once in a while, but she is confident that Sept.30th is the wrap-up time. So let's hope, like everyone else I want closure.

Just to have lunch with her one more time or be able to call her on the phone.....I would trade all their 'points' for that.I am still angry that this happened! And some people call us greedy and sniveling.... Johnnie it was my understanding the cap still stood at 32%...our attorney didn't charge more than that. I am glad to hear that you received your points, still waiting. Do you know how much each point is worth? Can't seem to get any definite amount out of my atty. Thanks

Thanks the best/easiest way to figure YOUR amount is to multiply YOUR points by $1302 dollars per point. The $1302 is what you will actually get after the slimeballs take their cut

The $1302 is what you will actually get after the slimeballs take their cut MJA, how did you arrive at this dollar per point figure? Wouldn't it vary by individual? What if I had Medicare and you didn't. Medicare would take out their expenses (lien). Does you dollar figure include "reasonable expenses"? I think you're better off taking the $1915/point and subtracting your attorney fees, liens and reasonable expenses. The $1915/point will change over time depending on how many points are still to be granted. It's still a "guesstimate".

The other expences will vary, this is just easier for me to compute the total

I dont know Johnnie, the way BG and Merck have treated us, maybe HERD is the right term.(If you had been talking about us as a group that is. LOL)
On your other point, I have no idea why this forum doesnt have either a edit function or a spell checker.

I thought it would be of interest to know that Ironlady who was pro se has now joined the settlement. As of June 30, 2009 it was granted that she could rejoin the settlement.
How can they do that?????

How can they do that????? Well gee, hope this don't deay the payments any further, she should have went ahead and done this a long time ago, it's people like this who holds up everything. I didn't know you could join this late in the process, something is wrong here, wasn't there a cut-off date? I mean June 30th is too late, surely this cannot be happening, if it is then might as well say more delays.

We joined at the beginning and have heard NOTHING. People that are allowed to join this late should be told... go home... it's too late. Have heard NOTHING... have received NOTHING.

The cutoff to join passed a long time ago. Ironlady must have joined all along and/or lied. They cannot take on new claimants now.
And I think MJA meant that for theMI victims the $1,915 minus 32% is $1302/point.
And yes Pharmgirl - your lawyer is repeating what has been said at the vioxx MDL conference that BG wants to finish all MI cases by end of the 3rd quarter which is Sept 30th. The final checks will go out after all MI cases have been decided and the points accepted. Then Brown Greer still must compute the remaining money left out of the 4.3 billion and come up with a final point value. Also all the people who did not get interim checks will start getting their money.(1 full check instead of 2 checks)They had to wait until the end. Then we will start getting checks. I doubt all 20,000 ,or so, approved MI cases will get their checks at the same time. Then our lawyers will be claiming delays computing our liens and their expenses. I would not spend the money yet.

I decided to check into this information and found that she left in 2008 and they let her come back June 30, 2009. So she did join at one time, but according to the records they summitted no paperwork for her. She also was pro-se, now she is trying to get some of the settlement money because she hit a dead end with the rico case.
