The author really needs to get their facts straight. Moonshine is not the same as commercial distillate.
Moonshine is made in the back woods, somewhere, out of mostly sugar and whatever ingredients are available. There are no means for cleanliness or disinfection of the equipment. Moonshine is rarely aged.
Commercial distillate is made to an exacting recipe using grain and modern equipment under the supervision of the US Government. It is usually aged a minimum of four years.
The comparison is very close to having Chevy build you a vehicle...or having a neighbor build one in his garage. One will last you years...while the other could fall apart in minutes.
Commercial distillate and Moonshine should not be confused as being the same item.
