It's worth its replacement cost of new whiskey. The only thing that may be worth something is the bottle after you empty it to a bottle collector. Federal law says you can't even sell it casually without a license.
Ethanol is a preservative in the lab. Sealed bottles don't go bad so drink it. The flavour may be less intense than 50 years ago but it is safe to drink if it is sealed. The reason I'm harping on 'sealed' is that you may not know what was put in the bottle 40 years ago after it was opened... Uncle Deranged may have put Methanol in it to make a 'special June Bug cleaning solution' and you wouldn't know.

We were remolding a old house. In a hidden room we found cases of whisky, bourbon and champagne. This stuff is over 70 years old. What would a bottle of cuttysark be worth at that age,Someone serious respond.I can get a inventory of everything.I need as buyer I don't know what to do with it.We can make a deal for a percentage. There must be a hundred cases.I think it was propation era stuff.
