There is NO book or person that sets value on a bottle of whiskey.

The value of a bottle is set by...how bad a person wants the bottle in question. Usually, you will need to find a person that has some attatchment to a bottle in question...to maximize it's value.

Whiskey is NOT a rare item....if you don't believe me....take a trip to your local liquor store and count how many bottles are on the shelf. Then take a look at their prices. You will now have a better idea of what your bottle is worth. Which is....not that much. Again,...whiskey is not rare...there are thousands of bottles of whiskey at every liqour store...across the planet, which is a very large pool of waiting whiskey.

Good luck to all those selling thier bottles...but, don't expext to have more than a couple hundred dollars of value in any one bottle. Most bottles are not worth even that much.

I have one bottle of, Scotland's, Ripe Old Age, blended Scotch Whisky ( 27 year old ). Bottled by Braico Limited, Glasgow, Scotland. Imported by American Wine Co., Import Division, Los Angles, CA for USA. The seal says British-American Importation Co., LTD. It also has an Illinois tax stamp for $1.00 per Gal.. The bottom of the bottle says: Braico LTD, Glasgow Scotland, A.G.W.
Can You give me any information about this bottle of Scotch? The bottle is still sealed and I'm wondering if it would be a collector or if I should go ahead and drink it.
Any info will be apreciated.
Thank You

Look at post 81 at the top of the page. The bottles that most people ask about might be worth $50 tops. If they still make the whiskey you are asking about, it's not that rare or valuable...especially blended whiskey.
Go ahead and drink it!

'JDBlair' and 'I Have' are the only two that might have something worth $100. The rest of you don't have squat.

I mean, really, Windsor Canadian and White Horse? Did Y'all even Google your labels? Do some leg work before posting. Both those labes are in current production..and there is a ton of info available about them.

["Bea"]I have a wooden box labeled "Black & White" Blended Scotch Whisky, James Buchanan & Co., Ltd, Glasgow, Scotland. On one end of the box it's labeled "The Fleischmann Distilling Group, 519 California Street, San Francisco, CA Permit 14-I-225". The back of the crate is labeled "12 4/5 quarts containing 2-40 Galls. 12 Bottles bearing stamps of 4/5 qts of denomination" The slats are nailed closed and there is a wire around the crate. This has been in my house for approximately thirty years, in a cool dark closet. What is the value of this? Someone said the box is worth $5...it's not an empty box. It's an unopened box full of twelve 4/5 quarts Scotch. Still looking for value. Any ideas?

Hey Cascade guy, what is "a lot of money"?
What do you mean by "a very long time"?
5 years? 10 years? There is a liquor store near me that has bottles on the shelf from the early 80's. They're the same price as a current bottle in any other store.
you have to get back to the 60's or 70's to start getting any extra value for most bottles.
I'd say take the money and run if you have someone who wants to by them.

Bea,

Your bottle is currently produced. Call the distiller for any info. They are the best source.

Again, there is no person or establishment that sets prices on alcohol. It just doesn't exist. So please stop asking what something is worth. There is no RIGHT answer.

If someone offers you $50-100 for a bottle you will never drink....take the money and head for the hills.

OR, better yet...stop asking what it's worth and just ask for offers.

'I have',

obviousely you type as poorly as you read. I said you might have something worthwhile.

Still, your bottle isn't worth more than $50-200...depending on the condition of the fill level, label and bottle.
