Coffee with a Splash of Sex Appeal

"Full-bodied coffee" has a whole new meaning in Yakima. At Brewlesque Espresso, baristas don skimpy, burlesque-style outfits while serving up java drinks.

I am appalled! This is degrading women! Its trashy, tacky and demeaning! I can see a corset with a mini skirt or shorts, a bikini with mini skirt or shorts but lingerie that’s taking the term sex sells to the extreme. Something needs to be left to the imagination. Those girls leave not much if anything to the imagination. That area of town is infiltrated with children, gangs, and a short walk there’s prostitutes. An elementary school is less than a mile away. Because of that stand Mel’s Diner, Conoco, and all other businesses with in eye shot of that stand have lost my business. I don’t want my young children seeing that style of clothing and thinking its ok to dress like that in public! The owner saying she would have the girls cover up on Sunday’s what about the rest of the time? They need not to be revealing their derrière to the general public. This style of clothing belongs in bedrooms and strip clubs not with in eye shot of children. To me they’re saying I’m here come steal from me and have your way with me, its ok I’ll go back to making coffee when your done.

i dont see this as tacky demeaning, and neither degrading and im not saying this just cause im a guy. but sex does sell and someone just happens to be making money off of it, ofcourse it's gonna piss some people off because they didn't think of it. i live around that area and it's not infiltrated with gangs, any area of town has children not just this particular area, and what if their is prostitutes?? they need mocha's and coffe too, the girls at brewlesque cater to all, they unlike some people do not judge some one for how they look, or what they do. they just simply make people happy by providing the big city experience of a coffee shop. so keeps at it girls one mocha at a time!!

I work at a coffee stand in Yakima and to me and the other girls, it's pretty sad that a stand has to use "sex appeal" to sell coffee. If you were to put any other coffee stand there, without the half naked girls inside of it, it probably wouldn't get half the business that stand does, so I will give them credit on the pulling in good tips and making good money, but seriously, what kid of girl would work there. I'm not a prude by any means, I'm actually kind of crazy and I love to go out and have fun, but I would never go so low as making coffee in lingerie. I would rather be half naked in an actual burlesque club where guys are meant to stare at me rather that on 1st street in Yakima.. I feel sorry and embarassed for the girls working there. But each to their own and if thats how you got to make a living then whatever. Just know that no matter how good the tips may be there, you can always make better tips wearing the same damn thing in a burlesque or strip club where the tips are waaaaay better.

I'm completely disgusted by this new stand!! What a bunch of sluts. If you can't sell coffee wearing normal clothes than you have a problem. Like we don't have enough to deal with these days with seeing the girls in magazines and movies and on TV. You'd think that you'd have enough class to keep yourself covered up. this place rocks!! see the line of cars that are there compared to other hundred espresso stands in yakima. the girls are friendly and serve decent drinks, but honestly i don't go there for the coffee. based on the volume of customers they probably outsell the majority of espresso stands in this town.

fyi...go after 1:00pm, the afternoon shift is much nicer to look at than the morning shift.

I agree with Bri 100%. They might as well be naked because from the pictures I have seen, everything they wear is see-through anyway. Strip clubs have to be so many feet from a school or church so why is it any different for this coffee stand?? At least in a strip club the kids walking by can't see because the strippers are inside the building but here you can see them hanging out the window serving coffee! Who came up with such a stupid idea. And for the comment posted by "Stop crying" for one you obviously aren't educated or you could spell correctly, second what if parents want to take their kids out to eat at Mel's Diner? They can't unless they are willing to expose their children to the naked girls at the nearby coffee stand. We are not JEALOUS stop crying...we look just as good in lingerie as they do if not better, we just choose to dress modestly when out in public because we don't want guys gawking at us because of our bodies. "Sluts", "disgusting"??? You people need to get out more. Society has made nudity risque, nothing more....the body is what it is and no one should have to hide it if they don't want to. I'm constantly amazed at how many short sighted narrow minded people live on this planet. Google Denmark and check out their society...nudity is common in parks/public (although mostly topless) and kids run free through them and nothing is thought about it. They also have less teen pregnancies better/open sex ed and less STD's by far than us. Who decided male nipples are ok to display on a warm day but females aren't?...It's really quite stupid. My wife and i both checked out Brewlesque and had a great beverage, a smile from a pretty girl and yes, we left a nice tip. I hope it helps keep them going...this town needs to crawl out of the annuls or prudness. So I/we say "keep it up ladies"...you all have beauty and more importantly guts to buck the prudes. Frankly I think all you people who trash talk the stands like Brewlesque and Java Jigglers only do it cause you dont have the balls yourself to work at either of those places. I managed Java Jigglers and I guarantee you wouldn't be able to pick these girls out of a crowd and be like they work at "one of those places" we're good people with feelings too we're just smarter than the average bear cause we know how to work the system to the best of our abilities. It's just a matter of time before this thing gets out of control.
I hope that this siguation doesn't end up with anyone hurt. These girls are putting themselves in harms way with perverts,rapist killers, and robbers.
I feel dissapointment in the public and the city counclil for not taking better care of this siguation.

I'm a married father of three with a successful career (my wife as well) and we both have purchased drinks from several of the stands. She usually likes to comment on how cute the girls outfit is (or isn't dending on the theme). The girls are cute, bright and cheery and the coffee is good..... Anyway, focus your energy on something important like the drug problem here, or gangs, or those who won't eat tonight...this topic is so petty and un important in comparison. You came into this world with less on! Oh and don't travel to europe.....nudity isn't such a big deal there and guess what, their sex crimes, teen pregnancies, and STD's are lower than here.
