Starbucks coffee is burnt swill. In Seattle they opened stores across the street from existing stores, which makes me question their business accumen.
Give me a cup from an independent roaster anyday.

It indicates the new awareness. There is a coming decline in frivolous expenditures.

This was bound to happen when you place many starbucks really close together. I'm amazed the two at Ala Moana are both still open (next to Sears & in Barnes).
Actually, Beebs, the Ala Moana Starbucks is next to Macy's, and I totally forgot about the one in Barnes and Noble! There's two in Kapolei too, two in Pearlridge in the *same* phase-one outside the food court and one inside Borders. What gives?

Four bucks, or a buck and a half, it is still terrible tasting coffee. It's all the "nouveau rich" appeal. The same people pay 4 bucks for a bottle of water! Do you know what Evian is spelled backwards?
This Starbucks thing has just been a yuppie fad from the beginning.

I can't believe they are closing the one in Hilo inside Borders Books.
I heard that's because they're going to close Borders. It's a shame because that is a great bookstore and much needed too.

<quoted text>DO ANY OF YOU REALIZE WHY STARBUCKS PUTS SO MANY OF IT'S STORES SO CLOSE TOGETHER? IT HAS WORK FOR MANY YEARS BUT IN THIS SLOWING ECONOMY IS HURTING THEM FINALLY. ONE OF THE REASONS IS YOU! ESPECIALLY YOU HATERS OF STARBUCKS. LOOK AT HOW MUCH TALK IS GENERATED BY OPENING 2-3 STORES SO CLOSE TO EACH? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU MENTION THAT 2 STORES OF ANOTHER COMPANY OPEN SO TOGETHER. IT'S FREE PUBLICLY WORD OF MOUTH. WHEN THEY CLOSED THERE STORES FOR A FEW HOURS, IT WAS NATION WIDE NEWS IN NON-NEGATIVE STORY. THERE BUDGET FOR TV ADVERTISING IS PROBABLY ZERO. You guys are talking about the absolutely the most ridiculous thing ever!
Your spelling, grammar and overall butchering of the English language has now topped the Starbucks discussion as the most ridiculous thing ever. Please enroll in a basic adult education class as soon as possible.

Agreed, the language is ludicrous but the logic has some merit. Whatever, I'd say their coffee names that are written in Italiyuck have seemed pretty worthy of ridicule for quite some time. I don't speak fluent Italiyuck and consider it a contemptuously humorous topic.

I'm sorry for the workers in those stores, but the more money taken out of Howard Schultz's pockets the better. Starbucks is a blight on this nation and world. Seeing a Starbucks in Paris(or any other foreign city) is enough to turn your stomach.
You are an intolerant, obviously prejudiced, hateful man.

Only 3 closing on Oahu? Just shows you how successful franchise businesses are on Oahu. Funny how people cry about high prices but won't give up $5 coffee drinks.

Yeah, imagine 95% of the cup of coffee is water.
Paying $5.00 for 8 oz. of flavored water......
My older brother frequents the Ward 5Bucks with his new 3G IPhone. Meets my other brother to talk about how smart they are. I've never joined them because I would bust a rib from laughing so hard. I'll stick to my home brewed Kona coffee.
Cost me 10 cents a cup.

Starbucks got lazy, fat and got way too expensive. Their coffee is also no good. We all prefer the smaller, locally owned coffee outlets.

I've never had coffee from Starbucks. I make my own capacino with my Kona Coffee. Why pay 3-5 dollars for one capacino, when I can have many refills when I make it myself? Geeeeee...It's a supply, but not a demand.
