Firstly, when Australians party they usually don't asked to be served drinks laced with methanol. Secondly, partying IS a part of real life, not an escape from it because life is what one makes it and whatever challenges and hurdles one has will still remain. It could be argued that devoting one's life to an employer in order so that employer can party and live the high life on your time, labour and subservience, isn't a real life. So let people be people when they have a break from work. Society would be a lot duller otherwise and many types of extremism manifest themselves when people have nothing to look forward to in life apart from school, work and death, and therefore nothing for themselves to live for but to provide their children with the same kind of dull existence. To take the above to an extreme, if partying is bad, would you consider slavery to be 'getting a life' and 'THE real life'?
