Cold Remedy Cocktails: Do They Work?

When it comes to adding a shot of alcohol to your cold or flu remedy, it's hard not to wish those boozy concoctions are doing some good for your health.

This is a bit scary, I firmly believe that one has to consult a doctor when taking medicines even if it is just for colds, and one has to be careful mixing alcohol with medicine.

My grandparents used to give me a tablespoon of a liquor known as Rock and Rye, a concoction of fruit, rock candy and rye whiskey if I had a cold or cough. I never suffered any ill effects. We didn't mix that with other medicines. Tylenol and alcohol together can damage the liver.
