Here's your chance. If you are ata a salon and are offered an alcoholic beverage with your service, report them immediately. You get enough screaming women that aren't getting their glass of Chardonnay with their massage with or without a happy ending and I bet the law changes. Maybe we should find out where our governess goes for her haircuts and see if they offer wine. She is a former Attorney General, after all, and should be enforcing the laws, not just those that are convenient for her. |
Cheex, time to think outside the box- it doesn't effect you do how about you just ignore it?
It doesn't effect me, I've never been to Jude's, but I understand the law. Its unfortunate. |

Guess all that have guests over for holidays and such need to have a liquor license as well. If it is free how does that violate. what a bunch of crap. Spend your time fixing our economy .

Oh yeah this is what our attorney general needs to be focusing on! This is as good as the politicians passing the damn drivers responsibility fee when Michigan is in such financial shambles. How about these worthless politicians start to work on something that actually matters!!

What has the world come to? A free beer is outlawed at a local barber shop. I guess next we'll have to have temporary liquor licenses at our own barbecues for our friends to drink legally. Don't forget the bouncer too for when they get out of line and the taxi service for when they drink too much. I think we have more important things to worry about like a corrupt mayor in Detroit wasting our state's time and money.

people of this area are so stupid first they take away adult clubs n now cant have a beer at the barber shop there are MAJOR reasons gr looses people and its CRIME is NOW onwe of the highest in mid ways stupid people never figure out they are stupid not even wheen it cost them their own life because they wait for govt. to tell them what to do and think.....
at what point do any of you idiots think for yourself or is that to hard |
Where is crime in the mid ways? No offense pal, but your argument would make more sense with some simple proofreading and spelling checks. |

This whole deal is such a joke. Now the goverment is sticking their noses into someones business when they hand out a free brew. Next thing you know, you'll have to have a liquor license to go to the corner store and buy a beer also. The City / County / State is upset because they're not seeing a slice of the pie here. Well, his only option now is to allow his customers to BYOB! Considering the business is still private property (he still has a right to refuse service to anyone I hope). If the state has a problem with this, it will sure become a ripple effect into our back yard BBQ's also, as mentioned above.

Story Quote: "Police in Kent and Ottawa counties had told him that handing out free beer violated local and state laws."
Can someone link me to this so called law? |
I hope that Jude's gets more business from all this media coverage. When is against the law to give away a product, oh I forgot he was giving away a beer and this is different so the so called law enforcers say

How much money did our state waste over ONE BEER?!? With the trouble our state is in, do you think our tax dollars well spent?
Are you kidding me? Should not our Beloved Attorney General be frying bigger fish than this? Another waste of time and money.
If he's giving it away and not selling it why would he need a liquor license? They do that in Idiana at a hotel I stayed in. You got cupons for beer if you stayed in the hotel.

Holy smokes! I see the "live life as me or die sinner!" group is mad as wet hens about this one. I think we should all get torches made, ride into town and lynch him real good. GET A LIFE OTHER THAN SOMEONE ELSES! Seriously tho, I did'nt see this as such a big deal. Just me?

I was talking to one of the girls that cuts hair at Judes and apparently the Grand Rapids Police Department's drug enforcement squad actually RAIDED a judes location looking for beer. There was none there as it was one of the locations told not to carry it. Are you really telling me that the biggest drug and alcohol threat to this community is a barbershop giving away a can of cheap beer? With all the gang issues in some parts of town it just makes me sick they'll waste time on a barbershop.
DO THEY KNOW HOW MANY SALONS SERVE WINE?
Judes Customer, don't you know? It costs way too much money and is way too dangerous to deal with the drugs and gang issues in GR. To sting Judes is easy, safe, and would probably just be settled out of court; nice and cheap for everyone. Win Win.

It's just ridiculous anyway. No one needs a free beer when they get their haircut. It's stupid and I for one am absolutely thrilled that they can no longer do this. There is a shop down the road from my house and I was appalled that they were doing this. That's all we need is them giving free beer to people who may already have a substance abuse problem. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!
