Nothing...this place is going in the garbage can. Too many old-school conservatives...who are still living in the 80's mentally...and haven't realized that it's 2008. Better kick out the Big Three, UAW and start bringing other business up in here or else, Michigan, and whoever is left here, is in trouble.

I agree with you!! I don't see Michigan reovering for many many years!!

All the votes are interesting. Wonder how many people will move out this year? What do you predict??
For those of you moving ...what state did you chose?

Michigan is my one and only home. My family is here but if I can't afford to live here anymore, then I will move to where the jobs are...

Judged:
1 The silliest thing I have never heard of in my whole life before. Court fine ($160)+$ 400( Driver responsibility fees) to a state that does nothing to curb skyrocketing insurance costs. Many young adults have moved out of this dumping area. Michigan government is a big failure. |

Never heard of driver responsibility fee. Is it added on to any ticket?

I'm also puzzled at this "responsibility fee". I just received my renewal for my insurance I don't see it on there. Though, if you mean the MCCA fee everyone pays, then I whole heartedly agree. The MCCA (Michigan Catastrophic Claims Assoc)is a joke. We are the only state in the nation to have it and it's purpose is to pay the cost for those uninsured drivers. The real problem is, the MCCA answers to nobody. The government doesn't even know how the money is being spent. Nobody is questioning the spending nor demanding an itemized expense report. It's been around for many many years but is becoming more noticeable due to the higher fees we are paying. Many moons ago the fee was roughly under $20 and nobody paid attention to it. Now, it's getting out of hand and needs to be stopped.

What can Michigan do?
We can change our local and state leaders at the ballet box. What we cannot change quickly is the entitlement attitude that many people in this State were raised in. It will take generations to change this. Management can point fingers, Unions can point fingers, but the bottom line is that we are all in this together. If the people of Michigan don't rally to change the "you owe me" mentality , who will?

Here is a big problem... I just found out a friend of mine got laid off and dosen't mind because he still gets 100% of his pay for the next 3 years!! They work for Chrysler. Who else gets paid their same salary for 3 years???? If I get laid off I have to find a new job ASAP
