Well, not from UFOs, but rather from neutron stars. The gamma ray bursts are preceded by gravity waves that can travel 67 times the speed of light. These gravity waves, when powerful enough, are thought to possibly trigger earthquakes. Some major quakes have been followed by gamma ray bursts that give credence to the theory.
