Firefighters to deliver smoke detectors, batteries, flashlights to 50 Detroit homes

People should be using 10 year lithium batteries or sealed 10 year detectors with expiration dates. Those Energizer alkalines are OK, but you still have to deal with it every year.

Don't smoke in bed or while lounging on the couch.
Don't store fuel inside.
Don't barbecue in the house.
Don't use power strips while not attended.
Don't run wires under carpets.
Fuses and circuit breakers will not protect from fires caused by electrical arcs.
Clean the dryer vent regularly.
