Detroit police officer charged with lying about over $29,000 in overtime hours

A Detroit police officer, accused of lying about her overtime, was charged today in U.S. District Court today with stealing funds from the police department, according to a court document.

HOld the phone here. If the officer was submitting false time sheets, who checks the time sheets? There must be more involved her. Doesn't the shift commander sign for overtime?

I'm with you....however, there is always conlusion to consider.
The boss who has an underling that he plays golf with will, a lot of times, gets 'points' on his evaluation to boost his test scores...those 'points' are taken from a non-golfing underling.
Believe me, it happens. Sad but true.

For example, certain dispatchers know certain officers. Those officers can get "timed out" and go to lunch or shopping while the city burns. Everything looks good on paper, on the log. A citizen calls in with something in progress and no units are available.
