Detroit Murder Rate

Why does everything have to be about race? I know white people who do the same shit everyone says black people do. I know white girls on welfare and dont care to try to get off of it. I know white people that dont do shit but try to rob people just so they can do drugs. I dont understand the ignorance of some people.

Alot of people commenting on Detroit dont even live there. I live Detroit and i am surviving. I am not dodging bullets. I walk anywhere i want. Lets not be ignorant here. Matter of fact, THE FIRST TIME MY HOUSE GOT BROKEN INTO WAS WHEN I MOVED OUT OF DETROIT TO A "GOOD" NEIGHBORHOOD.

Detroit is not a "good" city but then agian its not a bad one..if you really get to think about, today, everywhere in the world is dangerous.. its all because of some ignorant childish people who want to feel vonerable and carry a tough reputation.. thugs, osama, saddam, bush, cops, even the united states itself sometimes...

I grew up in Detroit back in the late 50s and early 60s, it was a very nice place to live back then.Slowly as the blacks moved in the whites moved out,who can blame them, they turned nice neighborhoods into ghettos.I lived there during the riots of 1968 when they were stupid enough to burn 1/3 of their own neighborhoods, and black snipers were shooting at firemen trying to extinquish fires that the blacks set.Black people made those areas the way they are, they were not like that when they moved in.Now you see a city that blacks have run for 30 plus years, and its all the white mans fault. You wanted the city, well now you have it,,,Enjoy the fruits of your labor,my black brother man.

detroit new orleans and baltimore and DC are the most hood ridden areas. Most dangerous out of all of them is Anacostia southisde of the ptomoac river its straighter gutta down there. In the 90's dc was known as murder capital but homocides have dropped 50 percent and yet it still has on of the highest homocide rates. It was 81 per 100,000 in the 90's and now its about 33, which is higher then most major cities

I love hearing people talk about detroit when they ain't ever been there, ignorant asses. I lived in metro through the 90s, when detroit was murder capital of the world-we'd get pulled over at 3am by the cops and the cops would just tell us to keep on driving through every red light till you got out.If you're scared of detroit, don't go there, only the strong can make it. And sometimes not even them. You gotta know how to act, don't put yourself in stupid situations. I live in san jose now, had to in order to make some kinda living. I laugh at all these thug wannabes think they're tough, they don't know what ghetto is. All ya'll who turn your backs on detroit, go ahead detroit don't need ya. Just shut up if you do. Detroit only needs people who want to help and don't give up. those are the strong. detroit weeds out the weak. Maybe I'm one since I left. But all my family's there. An I won't ever forget my roots and I won't talk shit about the place I grew up. I'd move back if I could find a good job!

Walking in their shoes doesn't provide the right to kill. People in poverty are still aware of right and wrong. They are all aware killing is "wrong". Therefore, being in their shoes is irrelevant. Living in poverty doesn't mean you have to live like a pig and act like an animal. Many people have escaped the poverty environment and succeeded in life. It's all about drive and ambition to better oneself.

Overall violent crime rate for 2007 is 19,708. That's averaging 54 violent crimes every day. Though I cannot find specific numbers for homicides in 2007, in 2006 there were 411 homicides and a total of 21,394 violent crimes. Being that violent crimes dropped about 8% from 2006, homicides most likely dropped by similar margin, which would put the homicide rate at 378+/- for 2007. This would average one homicide per day.

The current rate of violent crime in Detroit is 2,289 violent crimes per 100,000 population. To compare that for you, the violent crime rate in New York City is just 637.9 violent crimes per 100,000 population.
I couldn't even find violent crime stats for Denver... But I guarantee it's less than New York, and FAR less than Detroit.
