This is why I don't believe in either marriage or monogamy. People make all sorts of ridiculous, allegedly inviolable, promises to each other, which obligate the other partner to live their lives according to a certain set of behaviors and, in all likelihood, forgo any number of aspirations and opportunities. Then, when one partner decides that they want out, and that all of these promises of forever are null and void, they act surprised if the jilted party isn't willing to just suck it up. Quite frankly, I'm surprised that this sort of tragedy isn't more or less ubiquitous in the dealings between men and women.

Breaking up with someone hurts, yes. As painful as that is, it does not give the right to terrorize and/or kill another person. I can tell you that by going through the experience of being stalked and threatened and getting help by the police and court system, it happens a lot more than what is reported. It's like a dirty little secret no one wants to talk about. The man I was with would kick and choke me when I was pregnant, threatened to kill me after we broke it off, and repeatedly stalked me and my family after I got married to someone else. It's been going on for 12 years and the relationship only lasted 2. I've had two restraining orders which he fought unsuccessfully. All I can do is sit here and wait like a sitting duck because I know he will come around again. Nothing I could have done would permit that type of behavior. He is a sociopath and it's a shame that I (like many other people in the same position) didn't see it before.

If he kicked and choked you did you press charges? Why didn't you bring it up in court? He did get them amended! He doesn't want anything to do with you at all Moah. It's about his daughter. Taking her away legally may not be a reason to look for her in your eyes but in his it is. Just because you terminated his rights doesn't mean he doesn't love her.
Common characteristics of people with antisocial personality disorder include:
Persistent lying or stealing NOT A LIAR
Recurring difficulties with the law NOPE
Tendency to violate the rights and boundaries of others (property, physical, sexual, emotional, legal)NOPE

A persistent agitated or depressed feeling (dysphoria) NOT a DEPRESSED PERSON AND NOT ON ANTIDEPRESSANTS EITHER
Inability to tolerate boredom HE STAYS BUSY
Disregard for the safety of self or others VERY SAFE PERSON

A sense of extreme entitlement NOPE
Inability to make or keep friends SAME FRIENDS SINCE HIGH SCHOOL OR BEFORE

"The man I was with would kick and choke me when I was pregnant"

So did you press charges? Bring it up in court? I think this is a new accusation.

"and repeatedly stalked me and my family after I got married to someone else. It's been going on for 12 years and the relationship only lasted 2."

Maybe he was trying to contact his daughter. NOT you.

"I've had two restraining orders which he fought unsuccessfully."

They did get modified.

"All I can do is sit here and wait like a sitting duck because I know he will come around again"

To see his child. Terminating parental rights doesn't change DNA.

"Nothing I could have done would permit that type of behavior."

Hiding his child, lying to her, and preventing them to get to know each other isn't a reason.

"He is a sociopath"

Antisocial personality disorder is often misunderstood by both professionals and laypeople.

1.)Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
(Never been arrested. Member of many social organizations)

2.)Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure (NOT a liar, never to his family, doesn't use aliases or more than one SSN)

3.)Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
(Not an impulsive person)

4.)Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
(Not a fighter)

5.)Reckless disregard for safety of self or others
Safety first)

6.)Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain steady work or honor financial obligations
(Had steady work most of his life.)

7.)Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another
(Doens't steal or KIDNAP, when he does hurt someones feelings he does feel remorse.

*Adoption studies support the role of both genetic and environmental contributions to the development of the disorder

* It is hereditary

I am so glad my goddaugther got out of her relationship with this man. God only knows what could have happened to her and her husband, let alone her parents who X kept in contact with. I am in deep remorse for Rema Reed, her family and her boyfriend and his family. If this man does not finally get the sentence that he should have gotten 10 + years ago, there is something more that extremely wrong with the justice system in this "country" of ours.

Rema was of mixed decent. Her father is black and her mother is white. Rema graduated from Oak Park High School in 1993. I know that she used to work at Bally's near Northland. I am blow away by this news because I didn't even know that she had been killed. Rema was a sweet person and did not deserve to die that way. No one does!

It is a shame that Rema had passed on. I remember a little talk we had at Olive Garden. He mentioned How crazy her boyfriend was. This was when she was still seeing him several years ago. I was like nobody can be that crazy. True to her words, She warned me and it did happened. She was a fun and quiet person. What a shame.

Seems like all the Olive Garden People are coming on here. I just want to say Hi to the people at Olive Garden On Hall Road. I found out Ernesto the dishwasher had passed away. RIP REMA AND ERNESTO

I have read several of your post and it's not a suprize to hear that your single. Some people need to be. I can't imagine why anyone would consider someone with your attitude for a mate anyway, so it's a good thing that you feel that way.

I knew this man he needs to be locked up and nerver let out. And to the woman engaged to him girl you better get some since and leave this man alone before you end up like the others. And to other women still keeping in contact with this man leave him alone and thank God this did not happen to you. He does not care about no-one but himself. My prays go out to Rema and Terry and there families. I pray that the system does not fail these people and there families it would be awful to let this man out on the streets again.

I met X about 3 years ago and we dated for about 1 year- he was not willing to committ and I found him to be suspect with dating other women, Later found out he had many women. We kept in contact often and I was shocked to learn that he had been convicted on murder previously and that he could kill cold -blooded the way the papers state he did. I am thankful for myself and my life and I am very sorry for the families that this has affected. I had no idea about his past, his finace, or any of these things. I can't believe that he fooled me for such a long time, because I honestly thought he was a nice guy.

My heart goes to all the family and friends of both victims. I cannot understand why his girlfriend doesn't get a clue. Why do you have to volunteer to be next. With the way our legal system is, anything could happen. And it might not be justice for the victims. My understanding is the case is circumstancial and there isn't direct evidence to him. Would anyone with sense want this man to come home to them. It might just be you next. Aren't most pyschopaths charming and appear to be normal.
