No, its a shame the parents don't have control of their children. It's really sad that kids can't go to school for what it is intended for, which is to learn so that they can build a found to procedd into college. Detroit need to wake up or continue to be the poorest country in the United States.

I attended Henry Ford in 1971-75 and the violence level was very low. I was one of a few black students sent to the school to integrate it. We (blacks) were subjected to racial slurs but persevered. I am currently working in the school system in Chicago and it is worst than ever. These teens are the product of my generation that got lost on drugs and abandoned their children. Now we are reaping what we sowed.

I too, graduated from Henry Ford High in 1975.

I was subject to a violent end to my senior year.-Graduation Day was one of the best days of my life.

It was very clear to me what was to become of this once-great Detroit Public School.

In '75, Ford High bared little resemblance to the pictures in my older sister's Ford yearbooks.

No more music classes, nor plays, nor basic school spirit exist at Ford High.

It all just truly saddens me.

Detroit deserves what it got and even more. After their mayor conspired with the police department to cover up a murder case. The Mayor stole money, hired his own people (gang) to run the city. Gave contracts to his own friends. After all, the vote him back as a mayor. All Detroiters are ignorant idiots. Also the crime is a reflection of the racist culture that this city lives. Only this time it is the black discriminating against the world.

I'm a high school student myself and baboon you have no right to say what you have written. The incident that happened at henry ford high school is not a reflection of the city of detroit nor mayor kwame kilpatrick. It was an act of violence of course and there was nothing that the school could do to prevent that. It was an act of ignorance...yes...but yet it reflects the discipline of the students who were involved and their parents. Can we try to do something about the amount of violence in the city of detroit? Of course, but we as the citizens have to do it ourselves...if not why complain????

I graduated from Ford in 1980. When I arrived as a freshman 4 years earlier, I thought "Wow, this is going to be great". The ratio was still pretty good, about 75% White, 25 black. It was clean, the teachers seemed to really care, etc. I had no idea what it was like before I arrived. When I left the school, it was 99% black, 1% white. It was amazing to see the difference. I had a lot of friends who were not black that simply left without saying goodbye. Our city has gotten worse. We accept calamity as normal. We all turn and say "How Sad". but we feel powerless to change it. Drugs and gambling seem to have a foothold on the city, and we all know the people in Detroit really need to have more options than those. We still do have a choice however, that is to get to our knees and pray for our city that we still love despite the issues that exists. We need to pray like our life depends on it... because it does.

I graduated from Ford in 1973. Every September for the first week or so of school there were "riots". Kids would throw stones and I guess there were some fights, I always left and went home. It was still a safe school when I went there. Too bad things are so bad now.

Two students - one from Arlington, Texas the other from Detroit, Michigan..........did you miss a lot of your English classes?

Your spelling is horrid.

It's wonderful that you wish to contribute to this forum, however I sincerely feel you'd be a lot better off to do your school work.

You'll have opportunties once you've been graduated to add your two-cents to forums.

'Why is it that everyone always have something bad about henry ford?".........wow everyone always have someting bad.........?

"I don't think it's fare......." - my dear, a 'fare' is what to pay to get on a flight (airplane) or take a bus. I'm sure you meant the word "fair"..........chec k your dictionary.

Honest - I'm trying to help. You'll need to improve to get anywhere in the world today.:)
