I give Amerimax a C-. The windows are good but not what I expected. Salesman overhyped the product. I have some cheap vinyl windows in the garage that work just as well as my Amerimax in the house. Service is slow.

Are they good windows? Anyone have Amerimax vinyl windows on their home? How is the warranty?
We have Amerimax windows in our home for over 10 years installed by American Exteriors out of Littleton. The installation was crappy and we couldn't get the company to come back to fix the installation. Then one of the windows mysteriously "shrank" from its own frame after 10 years and blew in as an "Act of God" according to American Exteriors and destroyed half of my livingroom.

I think the windows are better than the installers. So just beware from whom you purchase. Buyer beware. When you buy a car, you buy the service department also.

I bought Amerimax windows because I was told they were one of the best vinyl windows. I can say I am disappointed with the quality and performance of the windows. Service was pretty slow.

We put Amerimax windows in our home 15 years ago. They have been great windows! The dealer was Dutch's Home Improvement, in Colorado Springs, and they did a wonderful job on the install. Now we are looking to build a home and we have asked Dutch's to give us a bid for Amerimax windows.
We have been very satisfied.

We actualy offer our Amerimax customers a free glass break & screen warranty at no cost. That really depends on the dealer but can be covered for a lifetime free of charge other than whatever trip charge the dealer charges.

I have Amerimax windows and absolutely hate them. They do look nice but can't hold up in high winds. They allow extremes amount of dirt in along with vibrations that sound like a tuba going off. I have also found that periodically water will leak inside my house. Customer service is not the best and I feel like the company won't work with you. They want to blame the problems on you. I would not recommend these windows

Live in Denver.
Our builder put Amerimax Aristocrat Casement windows in our new house built in 2011.
One problem so far: one of the crank handles is developing a crack.

These windows:
work smoothly
are tight
look good
So far, very happy.

I've sold windows for 15 years. Amerimax are actually one of the cheapest to buy for dealers, but are sold to the consumer as a top end window with a higher price for awesome profit margins. However their service and quality control are anything but top end. So my company dropped them as service is vital for many reasons. I primarily sell Simonton because they have a nice modern product line which actually evolves and improves. Plus their service is really awesome.

We are about ready to by windows for our home. I have done a lot of research and it is hard to make a decision because all the forums on the different windows are very similar.

I have decided you have to take a lot of these comments good and bad with a grain of salt. I have observed the same thing when I was shopping for an automobile.

I'd give Amerimax windows an F. I've had them for 5 years now. They let in a lot of noise--I can hear my neighbors every word as they talk going to the car at 5:30am every morning. Also they frost up on the vinyl itself in every room of the house in winter. You can feel exactly where the cold air jets in, they are poorly made. Heating bills stayed exactly the same averaged over pre- vs post-installation. Biggest mistake I ever made as a homeowner was going with Amerimax. The installer discontinued use after my experience with Amerimax quality, and the 'not going to help you' attitude from Amerimax service dept. You are really rolling dice going with this window.

I just had Amerimax replacement windows installed in a fourplex. Too early to provide a review, although reduction in street noise was obvious immediately. I do have a question concerning the exposed screw heads in the frames. I asked the installer to cover them with caps (like my neighbor's). He refused to do so saying it will weaken the frame. Quite frankly, I believe he was in a hurry to complete the job, and used the "weaken frame" as an excuse. So my question is: Is it common practice to cap the screw heads, or to leave then exposed?
