Voter disdain spreads as 'fiscal cliff' looms

Dec 11, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: WTOP-FM Washington

Fear and frustration course through the lunch crowd at Robie's Country Store and Deli, a popular outpost 500 miles from where Washington is again locked in tense negotiations over taxes and spending as a critical deadline looms.

A lot of states are not self-sufficient and would go belly-up without federal support. Also, states need the federal government for those things they cannot do on their own, national security, international trade, uniformity of relations between states.

I could see making it a felony for states to keep sending those to elective federal office who obstruct the implementation of the peoples business by blocking legislation necessary to move country forward.

mike is 100% correct.
The only hope we have to avoid "the cliff" is to very VERY quickly bring government back closer to the people.
Until our Congress gets their sh!+ together with a permanent solution to our nation's debt crisis -a Balanced Budget Amendment - representatives of each and every state of this union must immediately demand that the Feds cease collecting income tax. Each respective State government immediately needs to step in by making it a crime to pay Federal income tax, at least temporarily.
Each respective state needs to handle the collection and implementation of all America's income taxes.

Think Al Qaida, Iran, or China might be our nation's worst enemys?
Think again, brother!
Like the U.S.S.R., our demise will hinge on our OVERSPENDING and DEBT!

Your belief that all Obama voters are stupid only speaks about your own ignorance. Following a Repub position that the best for America was to continue to lower taxes on the rich and again deregulate the Banks and Wall St. only proves you are a slow learner.

AS if Obama cares about making a balanced budget. IMHO, Obama is working on the destruction of America and he needs to have opposition to his plan against America. It is up to all Americans to save America from his destructive PLAN.

Obama will accept corporate cash to pay for inauguration

By Melanie Mason
December 7, 2012, 11:31 a.m.
President Obama will accept corporate contributions to pay for his inauguration in January, a departure from his first inauguration and the 2012 Democratic convention in Charlotte, N.C.

The decision, first reported by Politico, underscores how the president’s stated desire to limit the influence of money and politics can at times create friction with the practical need of quickly financing large political events.

“To help cover the cost of the public events, the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Committee will be accepting contributions from individual and institutional donors in compliance with the laws governing contributions to an Inaugural Committee,” said Addie Whisenant, the committee’s spokeswoman.“The PIC will not be accepting donations from lobbyists or PACs and will not be entering into any sponsorship agreements with individuals or corporations.”

Federal law allows inaugural committees to accept unlimited donations from corporations and individuals. But in 2009, the president chose to cap individual donations at $50,000 and ban all contributions from corporations and unions. The 2009 inaugural committee collected more than $53 million in donations, according to Federal Election Commission reports.

Democrats also voluntarily opted to limit corporate cash in their Charlotte convention last summer: corporate donations were barred and individuals could not donate more than $100,000. Nonprofit organizations, including unions, were not subject to contribution limits.

But corporate money nevertheless seeped in to the Democrats’ nominating festivities. While the official organizing committee imposed donation limits, an affiliated nonprofit, New American City, collected dollars from companies including Bank of America, AT & T and Duke Energy to pay for a street festival, media welcome party and delegate receptions. New American City also paid the $5 million rental fee for the city’s Time Warner Arena, the site of the three-day event.

The Obama campaign shattered fundraising records for the 2012 campaign, netting $1.1 billion over the course of the election. But after nearly two years of campaign solicitations, Democratic donors may be feeling some giving fatigue."

Socialist-in-Chief Obama's mantra - Raise taxes on the "rich"
__________

Q) Other than Federal and State Governments, WHO owns and or runs the majority of American businesses?
A) The "rich"

Q)If Obama is successful in his current quest to raise taxes on "the rich", what will many "rich" decide to do?
A) In order to cut necessary costs in order to salvage their businesses they'll lay off many of their "not-so-rich" employees

Q) How do most "rich" people in America accumulate their wealth?
A) By getting good educations, generally not doing things that are self-destructive, being entreprenuers, and most importantly learning how to save and invest for their and their family's futures.

Q) What will likely happen in America if Obama is successful in his fight to raise taxes?
A) Increasing numbers of "rich" are going to discover that the United States of America is a HOSTILE place to run a successful business. This trend can already be seen in the medical fields as increasing numbers of American doctors have decided to pack up and set up shop in places such as Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India and China.

To summarize...
What Obama's doing right at this very moment is speeding up America's progress toward global insignificance.

They have a real cause to fear. This so called fiscal cliff centers around raising additionaltaxes on the Rich which wouldn't fund the govt. for 8 days, This is nothing but a canard and a distraction from the real problem, this catastrophic DEBT AND SPENDING!!!

The 'empty suit' in the WH wants to raise the debt cealing again!!!-- 16+ TRILLION $$$ is not enough, plus an additional 4 BILLION is being added daily. What could go wrong??? You would think these 'ersatz' leaders in this government would be connected to a 3rd world despotic regeme, with one foot on a banana peal, and the other stuck up their 'wazoo'.

Our founders warned us of these clowns....

"A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering… And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression."-Thomas Jefferson

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt."- Thomas Jefferson

"Allow a government to decline paying its debts and you overthrow all public morality — you unhinge all the principles that preserve the limits of free constitutions.Nothing can more affect national prosperity than a constant and systematic attention to extinguish the present debt and to avoid as much as possibly the incurring of any new debt."- Alexander Hamilton

A general strike of workers won't happen.(most are happy to HAVE jobs)

On the other hand, non-workers are going to hit the streets when the President allows the country to jump OFF the fiscal cliff and government freebies get SLASHED.

We KNOW how AUSTERITY was handled by the European countries. Masses of people RIOTING because their government handouts got cut.

We were losing 800,000 jobs a month when Obama was sworn in, and major corporations that employ millions were at the brink of going under. Couldn't save them all but enough were turned around to prevent the nation from going into a depression. We now have an ever increasing job rate.

Of course we still have the 13-trillion debt Obama inherited that he is dealing with and has the methods to get it paid down. The GOP has done everything imaginable to make him fail but he keeps on acheiving positive growth despite the naysayers from the right who obstruct at every move.

The unfounded attacks from the right are more than anything responsible for his getting re-elected. It is why they are trying to change their tune so that the GOP does not suffer further defeat in 2014 and 2016. It is very doubtful that the right-wing base will let them change their tune, witness the clueless comments right here. So given no let up with the unfounded attacks from the right it is victory and super majority for Democrats in 2014 and 2016, with right-wingers NEVER realizing they did it to themselves.

Presidential Inaugurations are traditionally paid by donations. If we the people were paying with our tax payments you'd be bitching about that.

Grassroots are Obama's biggest contributors.

Obama has accepted less from corporations than any other President over past fifty-years. Even his campaign donations from corporations and the ultra-rich were almost fifty-percent less than Romney's.

SWEETHEART, it is your Messiah that is still deregulating the banks and selling himself off to the highest bidder. Though you Democrats lie about it all the time, Republicans are not for lower the taxes for the rich, but keeping the the same like they are doing for the rest of the country. You know Sweetie what Obama proposes for the Bush era tax-cuts should be the same for all.

That is why the Republicans are willing to give a little on the tax cuts if Democrats reign in their spending with entitlement reform now. Yet, the Democrats are willing to go over the fiscal cliff because Obama can not stop spending.
