I have also had several pushy telemarketer calls trying to set up a 90 min. presentation on a very short notice. Asked what their calendar looked like for next week or following week. Telepusher said he will not even see his scheduling apptmnt calendar for next week before late Fri. or Sat.!!! Can you say "BUSH LEAGUE"??
Also... I labeled caller ph # from an earlier rep from this company in my cell ph contact list so I would be forewarned & whuddya know...started getting them from a different unidentified ph.#.
so....if it LOOKS like a skunk, & it SMELLS like a skunk, IT IS A SKUNK!!!
I be steering clear of 'em!

Your assumption about "Tongs" being an employee seems overly generous & undeservedly civil. Same for "White Trash"...neither seem too employable!!

I recently left this company as an employee because of the way they treat their employees and customers. They like to boast that they are the manufacturer of the windows which is true, but consists of about 14 guys working in a run down shop with what looks like older second hand equipment. Their windows are inferior (the person who said all vinyl windows are the same is just plain wrong). While working for them, I was never able to find a customer that was completely satisfied, and I spoke to many. There was always some problem or the other.
The main problem with this company is that almost all of the companies energies are put into sales and marketing, and very little emphasis is put into manufacturing and operations.
I have worked for good home improvement companies in the past, and as soon as my eyes were opened to American Exteriors business ethics and practices, I tendered my resignation.
I would dare to say that the age of their average employee is 21 to 24 yrs. old in the sales field, and I never met or talked to a manager that was over the age of 35, and very few had any prior experience in home improvement.
Bottom line: don't just stay away from this company, run away.

we had to reschedule our windows 3 times in one of them for they told us the fourth window is free it was a $1311.54 window and they told me the discounted price of the window was $350 which states their windows are cheaper than what they say

I decided to check out this company after a pushy telemarketer call . I told him politely no thank you I'm not interested and he made up a lie saying somebody was at our house on 7/28/2012 and that we were interested in some exterior work being done. I said that wasn't' true , and I again said no thank you. He was very rude and just kept the sales pitch going and I I tried to just say No thanks I'm not (click) and he just hangs up without even saying ok have a nice day. What a jack ass , If this is representative of their company Which it appears by all the negative comments and reviews, I definitely would never have them do any work for me.

We have ordered windows from American Exterior. Judging from the poor use of English in the very negative comments here, I hope your judgement of this company is as poor as your language! I'll post again when we are finished with installation!

The install was done within 3 weeks of our signing up. The workers were polite and fast (they were done in less than 2 hrs). They cleaned up everything after. Now that we have had the windows for a while, I can say we are completely satisfied. The cold call company they hired represents the integrity and competence one would expect from American exteriors.
After the big storm in Aug they circled our neighborhood like crows over carrion, we were very clear with them we dont trust or give business to carpetbaggers who wander the streets selling snake oil. One neighbor wasnt so lucky and hired them, they immediately tore off all his siding and nobody has seen a sign of them since other than the sing they left in his yard.
Today their cold call company bothered us with a pile of lies, the person "they talked to last week who asked for the call",,,was me and the name I gave their door to door dropouts. They insisted "he" wanted new siding and wanted a call from them. I got great siding from Great Northern builders a month ago,, awesome job and came highly trusted suggested by people in our church who had great work done by them after they were called and asked to submit a bid :)
I can only imagine they are as incompetent and sloppy in their work as their ethics and suggest everyone pass them by,, or end up like our neighbor with no siding on his home as the snow falls.

We recently had a rep from american exteriors come and sell us windows.
I first did my research to review the quality of the windows, before we had the rep come. And for the most part, the reviews on the windows were satisfactory. But, i did find a lot of customer complaints on the pushy salesmen, ect. My first thought, is that i live in the upper midwest, and all of these reviews were elsewhere. So I thought the pushy salesmen issue, was not demographically relevant to this part of the country. Boy was I wrong. Under no circumstance would I let him into my home again. He was very pushy, rude, and arrogant. He acted very professional at first, and even up till the last 10 min of the meeting; he wanted us to sign a contract right then and there, for windows that cost $14,000, without taking a day to think about it, or even comparing product elsewhere. And I thought the Ďspecial marketing promotioní for today only was a big joke. Come on, I have a BA in Marketing, and this approach only works for the totally ignorant consumers. And maybe thatís who this company is targeting?
A few weeks later we had a rep from both Anderson and Jeld-wen windows come in and speak to us about their windows. Both were very nice, no pushy tactics, or anything of that nature. The Anderson quote came at a tad bit more (14,800) and jeldwen at around 11,000. Now honestly, you canít tell me that American exterior windows are equivalent to Andersonís. I doubt.
So in conclusion, I would not recommend American exteriors in the Sioux falls, SD region. I canít speak for anywhere else, though. And I kinda believe that many of the positive comments around the internet come from the sales reps themselves.

Thanks for ALL the comments on here... We had a nice salesman that cold called our home, but after reading these comments I wouldn't use them AT ALL!!!! Also told the salesman that was here yesterday that we would NOT be interested in buying any new windows/siding, etc at all for now.. When we do decide to get anything done on the house I will be doing lots and lots of homework first..... We have never used anyone who has cold called our home or tried to, because those are usually the "fly by night" places... We have only used someone recommended by our insurance company or from trusted friends and family.

Man..as soon as you buy a home it is like a radar flag goes up and the vultures start circling....
