What kind of car is it? It makes a difference because all cars have certain things that commonly wear out.<quoted text>
Yes and note I did see your post too Satan 64......
After hearing a wining noise from my car engine and have regular services on my car someone finely told me it was the Alternator. But this is the kicker we have never had any problems starting the car and it's an 07. Also about 2 years ago we had to buy a new battery for it. We bought the car new.
Changing the alternator might work but it's an expensive job to do. Also what if that's not causing the whining? Also they told me they wouldn't know which of three alternator's would go into the car. Meaning it might be the $120. one, the $200. something one, or the $300. something one before labor and that was at a well known mom and pop's shop. I'm sure the dealer would be more...
If it a whining or squealing, and the battery isn`t going dead, then it could just be a belt. Mix up some dish soap in a spray bottle, and open the hood on your car. Start it and spray a little soapy water on the belts and see of the noise goes away, or changes in sound.
Most noises like that are a bad belt, or a noisy idler pulley, both are inexpensive compared to an alternator.
