It happened at about 6:18pm (11-9-09). I was walking northbound and was on 14th St. by Washington and looked upward toward the west and saw 5-6 meteors together in a small pack going off in different directions, all had a long firey glowing tail. It lasted a few moments and then vanished.
Right when I whipped out my camera, they had vanished. Several people around began talking about it - 2 men saw it too and were just standing there looking at the sky like me hoping it would reappear, but it didn't. It's a very unsual sight to see so many, all with such a huge firey tail, despite the brightness of downtowns city lights - the lights didn't seem to obstruct the view at all. What a beautiful sight to behold. Only wished I could've gotten my equipment out in time, rats. Thought you'd be interested. I wondered if any observatories saw it. Someome must have. Maybe NOAA. I have to check with them and see. |
