"a pack of pitbulls" huh?
Were they all carrying their authenticated papers?
I'm so sick of everytime a dog attacks someone every idiot automatically labels it a vicious pitbull with no proof of the actual breed (or more likely the MIXTURE OF BREEDS) the dog really is.
This is the type of story that fans the fires of bigotry and ignorance against the pitbull wonderful animals)
Pack of pitbulls my foot.
pitbulls are the only dogs that are ever in the news for attacking people, im sick to death of hear about some poor kid being attacked by a pitbull. they should be wiped off the planet. seems to me the only people that own pitbulls are a**holes!

I am an ASSHOLE, huh? There are many responsible pitbull owners...90% of the media reporting of a pit bull attack is not actually a pit. You are one of the 'sheep' that believes what the media says, they feed you all a bunch of crap and you believe it.
I am betting that you don't even know exactly what a pit looks like, there are over 20 breeds that resemble them.

How about you read a little on them, they are a great little animal if trained properly and treated right. They actually make great therapy dogs and are also used by the DEA as drug sniffers.

Here's a little game for all you people that think you know what a pit looks like (I have posted this before in other forums)You'll be surprised at yourself!

Don't know about that, but I think I would rather be attacked by a pit bull than you.:)

LOL!

They aren't what the majority of people think. I hate to see a good dog go down the pooper because of a few idiots that use them for fighting, guards etc.

Try explaining that to people who don't know dogs. The problem is not the breed but rather the people who are attacted to this breed for some of their qualities. Seems stupid to hold an entire breed accountable. We need to hold owners accountable for their pets. If you remove all pit bulls, then it will be dobies, rotties, akitas....

i still think theres something wrong with a person who owns a inherently violent dog, why does someone want a dog like that? is it to prove your tough? do you want to be able to sick the dog on someone? i dont get. still, there have been at least 3 attacks on children where i live in the past year and i dont know about you but someone or something that hurts a child deserves to die.

Agreed. Sadly, it has been those breeds in the past. I remeber when I was a kid how everyone was afraid of Dobies, Chows, Sharpei's, Rotties, and Akitas along with a huge list of others....

You are right, no matter how much it would kill me to put my dog down if he attacked someone it WILL be put to sleep. A small percentage of people own them to 'look tough', I didn't get mine for that reason, I fell in love with them when I was a teenager, a friend of mine had the sweetest one on the planet.
Not all pits are violent, the one's that are the one's that have no structure in their lives. You can't get a pit and expect it to be the perfect dog without you teaching it how to act and who is the alpha. They are very strong willed animals, they need to be socialized and trained properly, probably more so than almost any other breed.

I would have guessed number 15. Those are what they media has dispayed as being a pit bull. There is no way I'd want to have to hook up with one of those things. Someone would die, and I'm not absolutely positive it wouldn't be me, unless I had a gun strapped to my side within easy reach.

Not to get off the subject.... but I've had a lot more cats scratch the hell out of me, than nipped by any dogs... For years I never even believed dogs really bit people. I just thought they nipped. I think cats are far more inherently 'evil' than dogs are. They sit up there, in a cosy little nook and WATCH you. They plot and plan and then they show you how sharp their claws are by constantly digging into stuff. Some of the sicilian cats even leave dead animals where you can find them as a "message".

I'll take a pit any day over a pack of deranged felines bent on destruction.

It seems like one person a month is killed by one of these animals. How much longer can people stick up for these lethal dogs? If I owned one I would feel like it is a loaded gun running around and at any time it could hurt someone. I don't think I could trust one ever.

I will stick up for them until the day I die. They are a good dog no matter what the media wants you to believe. They have gotten a bad rap because of hoodlums, drug dealers, fighters, and irresponsible owners. They are not for everyone, they need more disciplined training than most other breeds, they are very headstrong and will challenge your athourity if you let them.

And I agree with you, but there are other dogs that bite and attack that aren't as widely publicized as pits.

It was the cute little puppy, 16.

It is because the media doesn't know what they actaully look like...they think that any dog that is included in the bully breeds is a pit.
