Tragic. The parents and driver will forever be effected by this horrible accident. 2 yr. olds can [and do] scoot like lightning even if you have them in your sight. If there's a bright spot in this, it's that this horrible tragedy didn't happen in Jefferson County. For if it had, rest assured the JeffCo DA, Scott Storey would be bringing charges against the parents and driver. Storey never misses an opportunity to victimize a victim, and turn their tragedy into a career-building conviction for himself.

At two years old that child should never have been out of one of the parents sight...There is no excuses...Charges must be filed ...accidents dont Just happen. ACCIDENTS HAVE A CAUSE and whomever caused it needs to be punished.. the lose of a child caused by you is NOT enough punishment.....Its NOT A PUPPY

I think these parents made a terrible mistake in letting their child wander down the driveway, not keeping their eyes on him - that said, ALL parents make mistakes EVERY DAY. It is so tragic they have to pay such a horrible price, I'm certain they will never forgive themselves. I'm glad charges won't be filed, they will suffer enough with the death of their precious son. But we parents can definitely learn from this, it's just reinforcement for us: don't take your eyes off your toddler for a SECOND. Not ONE SECOND, even if you THINK another parent is watching, never assume that.

God forbid you ever make a mistake. Would you be advocating for your own punishment?

The parents caused the accident by not paying attention. Their child was killed. They HAVE been punished and will be punished every moment of every day for the rest of their lives, because the memory of this tragedy will never leave their minds. But apparently you seem to think it will do some good to spend some taxpayer money and get some "justice" done. There's nothing you could possibly do to "punish" them that is greater than the punishment they already must endure, but if you're the type that believes government needs to be involved in everything and punishing every transgression even if there's no intent, then knock yourself out.

I don't understand people that offer poor parenting. A 2 year old should be in bed before 9:30 p.m. Was there something more to this? Did the parents really just buy groceries and immediately go home without stopping somewhere else? I see a lot of parents out drinking and returning home late at night with kids. Why? They were out partying with their kids. How about a stop to a pot dealer before the grocery store, getting stoned before going to store. I've seen this with some of my neighbors over the years.(apartmant living) I am sad for the parents, but I can't understand this, I thought, I thought.

No one has said a word about how the driver has to live with some one forcing them to take a human life.. As I said charges should be filed .. do you think the driver deserves to relive killing some one every day .. for the rest of their life, what if this person is pro life ?? What if this person has already faced this type of heartbreak and now thinks this may be a pattern ,, What if this person blames themselves the rest of their life..Can you imagine the impact on this persons life caused by negligent parents..Someone has to answer for what this person will have to live with.. If I was the driver , you bet charges would be filed and these parents would not be able to have children.. Ever....A child counts on you..its part of the deal..I would send these parents a anniversary card every year reminding them of what they did to their child and me.Of course I feel for the parents and the child but look at the big picture ... the child and the parents aren't the only victim here....

I don't think they are the parents. The article describe them as "guardians". Not that it diminishes the horror---maybe they were foster parents?

I'm so glad no one stepped forward to proclaim what wonderful guardians the "Guardians" were.

Whoever let the baby out of the carseat was in charge...Or was he even buckled in is my question? Sounds like child endangerment charges should be made against "the guardians?"
