That is the worst story I have seen in a while on here. Always, ALWAYS check to see where your child is. Do not assume even for a minute. I feel so sad for the parents and the lady who hit the child. That is so sad for everyone.

Dude. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. I'm pretty sure she did't want to kill this child. Police said no drugs or alcohol were the cause.

Try reading the article next time. If anyone would be charged it would be the parents for negligence. This could be considered to the same extent of leaving your child in a car on a hot day like today. However they did not leave the child in the car they just lost track. I do feel the parents should have been more aware of what their 2 yr old was up to, but it was simply a very tragic mistake/accident for everyone involved. I don't think putting the parents in jail will make things any worse than how they might be feeling at this moment. How do you forgive yourself as a parent for what happened unless you are callous and void of feelings. Some parents sadly are, but I don't think these parents were. The lady who hit the child tried to save him. She could never have seen this 2 yr old kid in the middle of the night coming from nowhere on a busy highway. Just very sad.

WHY are there so many stories of children being found in the middle of highways "wandering around"?

May the little angel rest in peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the driver, may she find peace and solace in knowing it was an accident...

I apologize, I should have been more concise... I hope charges are filed for negligence on the parents.

So you don't think actually LOSING a child like this is punishment enough for a MISTAKE?

RIP-Why does accident need to be someone's fault? Tragedy all involved will have to deal with.

Sorry RIP I didn't mean to sound crass either it's just a terrible story. Big Mouth is right the parents already sound like they were pointing the finger at one another, when they should both be accepting responsibility for this as a couple. However the way articles are written on this Fox31 site are not always written in the best fashion. So we cannot assume the parents were innocent from all of this.

However like sniper said the loss of this child has to be worse than anything any courtroom could throw at them.

The article really presents little of substance and leaves much to the imagination.
Are the parents guilty of negligence? Probably. I feel that a two year old should be in bed at 9:30 PM, not on a two parent shopping excursion.

A 200-300 foot long driveway? That's kind of an expanded guess but assuming it is at least 200ft that's a pretty long distance for a toddler to travel unless he happens to be very large for his age and extremely well coordinated.

Whatever the facts are that led up to this mishap, unless the parents have a history of child neglect the loss of this child will torment them for years to come and that initself precludes any further punishment.

it appears that this was just one of those unconscionable things that happens leaving us thinking , what if I had just?

300 foot long driveway would be the length of a football field. And how long does it take for a two year old toddler to stagger that distance? Something is not being revealed here, but it sounds like major negligence since someone should have tumbled to the missing kid during that time frame.
Time will tell.

I agree with the fact that it was an accident. And yes, accidents happen. However, in this case like John_Q_Spud said, "had a 300 foot long driveway which would be the length of a football field" and the toddler had THAT MUCH TIME to stagger that distance IT IS PURE NEGLIGENCE. This little boy lost his life! Yes, the parents lost a son which my condolences go out to them with heartfelt sympathy. But the bottom line is NEGLIGENCE.

If this story had the race of the family oh, you better believe if they are hispanic then majority of people that post on this would throw the book of negligence with the last words being ---- "hmmmmm I wonder if they're legal!"

For Pete's sake. Anybody who has had a toddler and tries to tell me they never ever got loose is just lying. Get real people. Accidents happen. Nobody's to blame. Thats why they call them accidents. Most of the time nothing bad happens, once in while it does.

Does any of you ever had a toddle? when they want they can run, plus you are believing that the driveway really was 300 ft. what if the reporter was guesstimating? maybe it was a longer then normal driveway but they just slapped a number on there. If these parents loved their child then i am sure that they are running every possible "what if" the rest of their lives they will be thinking about this one little mistake that took everything from them. do you really think that a court could do better? In jail you don't pass a park and see children playing on the swing and think about what you lost. I feel for these people.
