A look at the posts on Ebay Discussion Boards reveals a growing number of angry, dissatisfied sellers who are beginning to leave ebay and start selling items on other online selling sites such as Amazon, eBid, and Bonanza. Can ebay do anything to stop this from snowballing into a mass exodus of sellers from ebay?

The situation for sellers at ebay has grown worse and worse each year since about 2008 with the introductions of new policies that are adversarial to sellers.

Hopefully the terrible sellers leave and the better ones stay. The small fries take too long to ship, will do not accept returns and they trick people into this scam: "I will not give you positive feedback unless you give me positive feedback." EBay makes it that a seller CANNOT give negative feedback to any buyer. This is so buyers can stay honest.

There are issues for sellers and buyers both, but it's gotten to where there is a climate of complaint and suspicion at ebay in every directions. Buyers toward sellers, sellers toward buyers, buyers and sellers both toward ebay depending on how they've been burned....

One major issue is the flawed DSR sytem that ebay uses to knock you out of Top Rated Seller status so they can charge you higher final value fees on items you sell. Another problem is the ebay 21-day hold on Paypal funds.

Both problems are not being fixed by ebay because ebay is making money off these problems.

Ebay used to be a great place to shop and to sell. Not anymore. And that's sad. It could be fixed, but corporate won't fix it.

Fortunately there are other places that sellers can go when they leave ebay. Othe online auction sites like Bonanza and eBid, and classified ads on Craigslist.

Look for other online sites to pick up steam as disgruntled sellers from ebay migrate to them.

Corporate ebay isn't trying to fix any of the problems adversely impacting sellers. Hence the downward spiral ebay is in. There's a new blog about all of this on WordPress. Here's the link: ebayhorrorstories.wordpress.com

I got so frustrated with ebay that I've gone back to consignment shops and yard sales. I put the kiddos outside to help with the yard sales.

Starting in 2008, ebay began putting into place policies that are designed to "weed out" the small sellers. It's working, as these bad policies dierctly impact small sellers disproportionately and as a result the small sellers are simply leaving ebay by the thousands of their own accord.

A very large chunk of ebay's quarterly revenue comes from PayPal which is now accepted at thousands of retail outlets nationwide and/or worldwide. Truth be known, auctions are just a small segment of the pie since ebay diversified. Hence the slow, steady decline of the auction format.

Ina Steiner at Ecommercebytes.com has written a number of good articles on the many problems at ebay.

The elimination "the little guy"- the mom and pops- is by deliberate design. Ebay is courting high volume sellers (who are taking over the site).
