Good. For the first time in a while, a DA wasn't busy giving himself a colonoscopy and made the right call.

These cops did their job and did it well. It sucks they had to shoot someone, but it happens in their line of work.

I hate to see someone lose their life, but this guy had no respect for the law. An beating on your wife/girlfriend doesnt constitute turning his life around....

I say if you run from a cop then you have the right to be shot forget the chase. If you run then you have something to hide.

Everyone should read all of CRS title 18, article 1, part 7. Yes. This shooting was justified under the statutes as currently written.

Still, I'm a little uneasy: Mr. Trevino was unarmed when shot, and there is a distinct possibility that he was NEVER armed (hey 9news - find out about this). Officers apparently had no direct evidence he was armed -- only the claim by the wife. Should a frightened, panicky spouse be a lawful source for presuming a suspect is armed with a deadly weapon?

Real tired of lame-donkey excuses instead of people growing a pair and being honest!! Threaten people with a gun and you might die for it... duh!

Wow. I'm shocked. Cops kill an unarmed suspect with no witnesses and they get cleared. I bet this is the first time THAT ever happened.

Absolutely. If you think they're going to wait for him to pull out what he was reaching into his pocket for, what his wife TOLD the police he had, you're even more stupid than I thought.
I'm not about to put my life on the line to waste time verifying this KNOWN BANGER is actually carrying a gun when he refuses to show me his hands and is reaching into his pockets, especially when his own wife said he showed her a gun.
Oh, and there were witnesses, JACKA$$! His wife was even there too.

How often have you seen it go the other way? I can't recall a single case.

Guess that the stories the family is spreading around Greeley about how the cops shot him in the back and then dragged him and threw him into the dumpster didn't pan out.

They don't need DIRECT evidence when it comes to the possibility of a firearm in play. Bullets just don't kill police, like our friend Rodney King dreams of. Innocent people get hit by stray rounds all the time. Besides, they had more than enough to assume this was a real threat.
They were aware of this of this suspects violent, well-documented, gang related history upon their arrival to a DV call. They were aware he cut off his ankle monitor. They had a statement from his own wife that he showed her a gun. Upon contact, he refused to comply with the officers instructions and show them his hands. He made an aggressive move and reached into his pocket for something.
Justified? Yes.

If a cop asks you to show your hands repeatedly and you won't, then you reach in your pocket, they can only assume you are reaching for your weapon. What else should they be thinking? If you were in the cops position, would you wait to find out if the guy is reaching in his pocket to shoot you from his pocket. At that range, you would be dead for sure.

The guy needed to show his hands period.

Wow, how long did it take you to put THAT together? And since then there have been over 100 officers killed in the line of duty across the country (4 right here in Colorado) and now you want to tell me that cops are trigger happy?
Try again, or at least learn what it like to be a cop before you post more of your inane blathering!

That's because your small, cop-hating, mind refuses to look at anything else. You see only what you want to see. Officers are shot and shot at all the time. Not that you give a damm. A good cop is a dead cop. Right?
Lets see you show your stupidity and ignorance again, Guardian. Or should I say Marco Polo, Jeff, Achron1313 or whatever other name you switch to and hide behind.
