I'm all for it!!! Cable prices are ridiculous!! We would also be able to filter more channels from our kids!!

let the cable companies keep their packages of 100, 150, 200, 250 channels at the SAME cost, "BUT LET US DECIDE WHICH CHANNELS WE WANT" This will solve the problems of profit for the cable companies (which is the REAL problem of this issue), and allow us to get the channels that WE want! Give me 200 channels to choose from, of the channels I will actually watch, and I will happily pay the $60.00 a month that I'm now charged for crap I don't watch.

Remember when cable first came to Denver? You had to pay for it because it was commercial free...

I have used both cable and dish. I decided a few years ago I hated paying the price for 150-200 channels and only watching a few channels. I also hated paying to watch advertisement. I went low tech, back to the antenna for local channels, and started buying and renting DVD's. I can find good used movies for $5 and watch them forever, or I can pay $1 to rent. For Discovery grouping information I used the internet. I am happy. If the price was low enough I might rethink my strategy to get the Discovery channels back.

After reading all the comments, I'm sticking with free TV. Think I may splurge and go to Radio Shack for a new set of rabbit ears though. It was nice to find out that I'm not the only person in the state without cable or a dish.

I think the current statistics show about 85% of households in the denver market pay for TV in some form or another, and only 15% of the market still relies on free over-the-air TV broadcasts.

I wonder if we can get status as a protected minority?:)

To some degree, we already have. Part of the deal when all stations switch to HDTV is that folks without cable or a dish get a voucher to cover most of the cost for a converter box. I just don't watch much TV, and when I travel have never seen anything on cable at hotels that I'd be willing to pay for.

Just remember that Comcast makes .65 cents per dollar PROFIT. I would love a ROI that high. Another reason to get rid of Comcast and bring in competition.

I thought that I was the only one old enough to remember!

This, coming from one of the few that watched MTV's opening act, and their video, "Video Killed The Radio Star".

Gimme back my value! Take the Cialis ads off the air, and shove the Pocket Fisherman where the sun don't shine, Ted Turner!

objectionable programming is most effectively blocked through the on screen guide and included parental block feature from the cable/satellite provider. Also, any TV sold after 1989 includes a V-chip, also capable of blocking selected programming.
Ala Carte programming will kill small broacasters and make America's garbage-soaked airways even less appealing. Petition your cable provider to provide better packaging to meet the needs of Family, Sports, Movie viewers, so you get more from your package, not try to squeeze more from the 3 channels you pay $20 each for.

How about a $10.00 fee per month that gives you only the local chanel guide (just to attract possible future additions to your line up. Then $1 per each chanel added. For example:$10 monthly service fee +$1 per chanel (non premium) ABC,NBC,CBS,FOX,SCI-FI,Discove ry, Disney and Weather... comes to $18 per month. Then, if you want to watch HBO, Skin-a-max, etc., they are $2 per chanel per month.

Personnaly, I use my ROKU to stream my progams in. My wife likes her traditional " Wheel of fortune, local news. and HG TV shows. I'm really pissed off at the cable companies for forcing ESPN, Info- mercials, and other crap down our gullets! I think that the FCC should investigate thr legality of having people pay for " BASIC TV " !
