Cops need to relax. These were probaly just some guys goofing off on a hot August afternoon.

Things are getting so bad that you can't even float around in a homemade submarine. What's the world coming to?

This WORLD was built on craftsmanship, For God sakes, jesus was a carpenter. I assume if and when the 2nd resurrection comes, cops are going to shoot it out with Jesus, i'd like to see that.

Your an idiot and it's no wonder why this country is retarded, because people like you breed. I suppose you base all your fears on "what if's", just like the rest of your retarded inbredd'd family. The justice system wasn't built on What if's A*shole, it was built on FACTS.!

Hey pissy paranoid resident, what were they doing wrong, if your so smart ? Your "if's" don't support any facts. When this country takes away all your rights with "if's" and puts you in a concentration camp so you don't "possibly" harm this country, don't cry.

Read the story, they were in a secure zone, near the Queen Mary two. You have to use "what ifs" in considering what steps to take in security situations. If they had paid attention to the FBI agent that reported the guys taking flying lessons, and didn't need to know how to land, and asked themselves, "what if they plan to fly into buildings" it may have been prevented. The Government knew of plans some were making involving planes into buldings in the Phillippines in 1995. The USS Cole was bombed by guys in a small boat, killing americans, and here's guys in a makeshift sub, near a very large vessel, in a secure zone, and Cops need to relax??? Are you kidding me? Of course there's the ones that inject Jesus or religion into a situation, geez, give me a break. Here's a what if for you, what if the guy up there is wearing a turban when you get there?

Man!

Talk about wearing your paranoia in your sleeve.

EVERYTHING has it's risks. I still think allowing your government to have that kind of descretionary control to bring non-specific charges against someone that does something they didn't like is much more dangerous than letting them go after every bonehead that does something stupid.

In a display of "bringing order" you would have them acheive absolute control over everything everyone does. You are only trading the illusion of security for freedom. Your sycophantic behavior to your government isn't actually going to make you safe. It only gives the people running it more and more power, and being human, they LOVE that. And don't think for a minute they will all only use it to protect you.

Should these folks be charged? No way...
But they should have done a little homework and gone and played with their new toy somewhere else, maybe a little further up stream. NY is busy looking for things out of place and to drift into a secure zone is kinda amatur'ish. Strong warning and send them on their way.

If you REALLY trust LEOs that much, look at this:

I agree, a fine at the most but charging them with a crime? Er that is a bit much.

That's why they are correct to check it out. There is a difference between stopping a couple of goombahs in a home made sub an acting like it is a crime.

The problem with LEOs and prosecutors is they tend to see just about any incident as an opportunity for career advancement. This can be a very bad thing.

The only thing these guys did wrong was test this thing in the wrong part of the harbor. They should have been more conscientious about where they were.

If law enforcement's intelligence does not consider planned civil war re-enactments how on earth will they stop someone who is being sneaky on purpose? Is there someplace I can place a bet on the stupidity of law enforcement? Does Las Vegas have anything?

I personally have no issue with the police investigating this matter; but charging them with a crime? Harsh.

I agree but I think NYC are a tad bit touchy and cranky. I would mess with them after 9/11.

I am a long way from having sympathy for this Government. Their failures brought on 9/11. A secure zone around a large vessel is common sense, which obviously escapes your thinking.
