Hi Syd! Good to see you!

Yeah they had other options.I think they thought it was never going to get out to the public. And to me by asking for a jury they are going to try and get simpathy from the jury about the choice they made.

it's ridiculous that we slaughter animals by the millions and then get upset because someone drowned their own cat. hypocracy.

How would you like to be held under water til you drown? For $20. a Vet would have put the cat to sleep, much more "humane".

i wouldn't, but then i wouldn't want to be shot, beheaded, or have a bolt driven into my brain either. my point is that"animal rights" take second place to human rights. i don't approve of cruelty to animals, i just don't believe this was a crime. if i step on a bug, is that a crime? if not, why not?

animal cruelty laws are stupid, but typical of the socialist nanny state, that wants to exterminate mankind.

child cruelty laws are stupid too. If you had the kid who gives a damn what you do to it, right? After all, it belongs to you.

Sorry. It seems I jumped the gun, again!
It's just that ANY abuse of ANY kind, gets me pretty ruffed up, I guess cause I've been there.

That's okay....there are a few of us that have been here for a while and pretty much know when the others are being like that :)

If I didn't 'know' Caution I probably would have down the same, it gets me peed off too.

I'm almost glad this couple wants a jry trial. Hope the vet they took the cat to is called as a witness. It's hard to believe a vet would diagnose a young cat with a terminal and contagious disease, then just hand the kitty back and not inform the owners of the best way to deal with the situation.

Besides, if this couple honestly thinks the average person feels drowning a sick pet is a humane form of euthanasia, they need a reality check.

Six years ago some P.O.S. vet told me my Smokey had cancer and put him on steroids. Six months later her associate looked at the same results and found he didn't have cancer and pulled him off the medication. Less than a month later he died.

I'm afraid many vets are just people who wanted to be doctors and found they were either too dumb or too lazy. They mess with the lives our our loved ones and honestly don't care if they live or die.

It wasn't until last year that I adopted another furbaby. The whole family of three actually. And this year their little brother. I don't believe anything my vet tells me now until I have at least one, if not two second-opinions.

As for a humane way to put an animal down, all I can say is if it's a terrifying way for me to think of dieing, then there's a good chance it's not humane. I guess that's a level of common sense that isn't as common as I'd first thought.

(yeah, my spelling sucks today, i'm gonna blame it on being tired)

Caution,
Glad that you have adopted new furbabies. It is tough after you lose one.

Maybe it was just a bad spelling day. I proofread and missed "jry" in my first sentence.

True. EVERYONE be sure about your vet. My ex-vet did some inner ear surgery on my pug and the result was paralysis on his right side which ended up his losing his eye. I kicked her to the curb. She is out of business now. Another vet removed his eye and he is a happy camper now and I call him my pirate. ARRRH!

As inhumane as drowning might be how was this family's financial situation?
Maybe they were so broke they couldn't even affoard $20 to put the cat to sleep. If they went the legal way maybe it was either let the cat continue to suffer, or go hungry. Sad.
Can't afford a pet? Then DON'T have one.
