LOL! A progressive, but no where near the definition by todays standards. He got richby doing business the way he did, and his morals came from his Christian values. Odd that you look to him when you admire Stalin so much.
Nothing wrong with getting rich doing business. It's not paying your workers a wage that they can live on while taking billion in government handouts while making billions and hiding that money overseas that sucks and Henry Ford paid his workers very well indeed.

Henry Ford was not very religious. He also believed in reincarnation. Thanks to the wide circulation of his antisemitic literature, Ford was much admired by the Nazis. In 1938, Nazi Germany bestowed on Ford the highest honor they could award a foreigner and was mentioned by name in Adolph Hitler’s Mein Kampf.

Henry Ford ran for senate as a Democrat in 1918.

Let me be clear. I believe the earth is billions of years old and I believe the Bible is truth cover to cover.
What interpretation of the bible do you believe in? What denomination do you follow?

I was born catholic. I went to catholic schools, received my confirmation, and eaten the host. therefore I am to have faith in the interpretation of the bible by the Pope. I see problems with this.

Who do you follow for the correct interpretation of the bible?

No speculation about it if you believe the bible is truth.

According to the bible all the worlds langues came from a curse from god over the Tower of Babel being build to reach heaven. Silly to believe this story as truth.

Define old. "

Older than 100,000 years

Respect71 wrote, "<quoted text>

Mass extinction: The extinction of a large number of species within a relatively short period of geological time.AKA 100 million years.

So you believe in unicorns, fire breathing dragons, satyrs (men with goat legs), cockatrices (rooster-serpents that kill when looked upon) and a race of Giants (they survived the Great Flood, because they appear both before and after it. I guess Noah made room for them on the Ark). talking donkeys and snakes that bats are birds, Whales are fish, value of PI is 3, the earth is flat,non-moving and sitting on pillars.Stars are little things that fall to earth. That rape is an good way to get a wife. Good to know!!!
Silly because you say so? Or because you are seriously ignorant of the Bible and what it contains.

I think you hatred for Christians is very strong and you will always ridicule them even when they present reasonable arguments.

Christianity, or religion for that matter, will not go away, no matter how much you tease, ridicule, demean, or even if you slaughter millions because of their belief.

Democrats then are NOT the democrats of today... Then, they were not socialists... Especially Ford.

So are you saying he was a Nazi?

Lol... And who are you to say what a "living wage is". What do you pay a no skilled worker? Do you pay them as much as a surgeon?

There is no such thing as a "interpretation" of the Bible, there are only translations. I believe people have an odd idea that the versions of the Bible say completely different things when they do not.

I belong to a Community Church which doesn't subscribe to a specific denomination. I am a Christian saved by The Lord Jesus in my twenties and now live by His Grace for eternity.

My background growing up was catholic (so I so relate with you because growing up in those traditions was very confusing) and the more I studied to Bible I realized that there is a great deal of legalism that most religions fall into. To be clear, to be religious is what one can do for God to hopefully gain His favor. The truth is there is nothing a person can do to gain His favor. He sent His Son to forgive us of our sins so that we can have RELATIONSHIP with Him forever, NOT religion.

I found that when I believed in the Bible the world, to me, became so clear, Science became so much more exciting, and life was full of more meaning than I could have ever imagined than when I did not believe!

God is greater than any denomination and loves each of us so much that He gave us the choice to be with Him... BUT the world, no matter how many believe, is still fallen and sinful.

The bible may not say different things but people "Interpret" different things. Of course there are different interpretations and you paradoxically said so yourself: "I believe people have an odd idea that the versions of the Bible say completely different things !" If people think the bible says different things then that alone is a different interpretation than yours! That is in a very small way but what do you call it when there are Mormons, Seventh day advents, Catholics, Protestants, etc. if not different interpretations??? What does one call separate groups that have separate ideas and all believe and follow the same book?

According to my VERY Catholic wife the fact that go to the church that you go to makes you no different than a Muslim! Now if she doesn't have a "Different interpretation" of the bible than you do then I must speak a different language.

Don't you find it unusual that we couldn't start the very beginning of a conversation without a disagreement? I was sure we would easily pass my first questions and begin a foundation to build on. I think, like my wife, that you might be defensive or combative or whatever about religion. Tell me if I am wrong If I am right it most likely has a lot to do with this site. Do you agree there?

First, how can one have a "interpretation" of the Bible when they haven't taken the time to read it? There are many, like J, who read parts of the Bible and remove those parts from context, and justify slavery, or hating gays, or even calling it the most horrific book ever based on a few verses from the book.

But if one takes the time to read the books of the Bible, leaving intact the context, there leaves very little room for interpretation.

Millions of people have read the "Harry Potter" books and all will agree its a story of good vs evil within the setting of a magical world. Do you recall some Christian leaders calling the "Harry Potter" series evil and parents shouldn't let their children read them? That's because they never read or only read in part these books and they had no understanding of them. The same happens with people who refuse to read the Bible and hold on to their unknown fears of Christianity.

King James Version (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16
New International Version
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16
The Message (MSG)
16-18 “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.

These are different versions of God's love for us... After reading all three do you have a different interpretation from one to the next?

"what do you call it when there are Mormons, Seventh day advents, Catholics, Protestants, etc. if not different interpretations???" Mormons have added a book so they attempt to justify their beliefs with the Bible and the Book of Mormon... For the denominations of Christianity, there is no difference in the belief of God, only how they choose to worship God, and in a fallen world many different traditions come from human ideas. Christians basically stole a organ holiday and turned it into Christmas. Right or wrong millions and millions of people remember the birth of Jesus at Christmas time.

"What does one call separate groups that have separate ideas and all believe and follow the same book?" Denominations and there are thousands.

I love Jesus with all of my heart and I know I will face adversity because of Him. Heck, when I was a kid I made little Christian girls cry by making fun of their stupid belief in God, and now I see God has always been there for me, through those girls and many others and I thank Him daily for that fact.

It's the choice of the individual to believe in the Bible, and I will gladly share with anyone.

Like thousands of Christians in the Middle East do now… I’ll die first.
You better hope your stats aren’t like GORE’S, hinged on very faulty science…

BUT the point is your idea when you say “I know our morals came from humans being social animals” and “[you] believe that humans will do the right thing.” Is meaningless because the is not even scientific evidence to support these ideas. Your line of thought will die out long before Christianity or any other religion for that matter.

We just want to see you marching next to the Druids in the Religion Day parade. We'll wave and tell our children about your once powerful cult.

Teach them what?

Since your here I have a few questions for you:

What makes gay people think it is so important that everyone know what your bedroom preference is? I neither want to know or tell what I do in the privacy of my home. I keep my sex life in the closet where it belongs so why must gay people push it in my face? What is wrong with the closet?

Why is it so important to get married? Your going to get divorced any way so why can't you just let things be and leave politics out of it?

I am looking for a way to promote the future of mankind. Nothing could make life better than to be in a position where life is precious again. This is my wish and reason for this post even though it may seem kind of far out there but what I wish is to have enough space for mankind to live in that someone having twenty children is considered a hero!!! If humans were spread thinly throughout the universe life would become so important that every pregnant woman would be placed on a pedestal as it has been in the past. If we take life in your direction the end of life would be inevitable.

Sex is...SEX!!! Nothing more unless it is purposely done to promote life. Then sex takes on an entire new level of joy and satisfaction.

So you are going to adopt a child and teach that child...WHAT???

With all due respect (Loll) Jammer is right, you tend to avoid a question or speak around it instead of simply answering it.
How can you tell me that the Bible is NOT interpreted and done so in different ways when you and I are interpreting the word interpret differently? If a discussion is going to get anywhere it has to get past the little stuff quickly. When you can't understand what I am talking about when I say there are different interpretations of the bible I KNOW you are simply being combative. I think you are assuming where I want to take the conversation and therefore attempting to hold your ground before there is any ground to be held.

In order to hold a constructive conversation the first thing to do is find the common ground so that there is something to build on instead of there being only things to break. THIS IS THE FOUNDATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ISRALIES AND PALISTINIENS!!! They begin on a negative foundation right from the get go so obviously they can only go in a negative direction.

What do you think I was after or wanting to do when I first asked about which interpretation of the Bible you meant??

Yea not bad.

The bible is much harder to interpreted than in believer is willing to admit.

Take Mary's virgin birth. Most Most bible scholars will admit it's a mistranslation. Should be "young woman" not virgin.

Same thing with the one time Lucifer is used in KJV of Bible. Lucifer is a mistranslation of a Babylonian king and has nothing to do with the devil as every other bible now has written .

Us less you know how words were use in that time we can not understand them using today's words as the meaning has changed as with homosexuals and gay marriage. Jesus did not have a problem with two men loving each other. In that age a Greek businessman would take in a young boy living on the street, clean him up educate him make him a intern and in return the boy would give out sex to this man. This is what Jesus was against.

Good luck with (anti) respect.
