Have you read the book "Ring World?"
Though I think that is a bit beyond human capabilities.
I believe we (mankind) are destined to kill this planet, so we better get on the stick and find another one to use up before it is too late.
Hopefully by then, should we survive long enough, we will have a better handle on how to manage a planet's resources.
The greed that runs this world is what is destroying it. I believe better ways of doing things exist, but too many money moguls would be put out of business, Tesla and his free electricity for one.
Can you give me an idea what the book is about before I go out and buy it?

It is about different planets inhabitants banning together to build 2 rings around a sun. An inner ring and an outer ring. The inner ring was built so as parts of it were dark and light could not pass through it as it revolved around the sun, creating day and night. The outer ring was what everyone lived on.

You can imagine an undertaking of this magnitude would indeed take many worlds to work together to accomplish.

It is a fact that over 99% of every species that ever lived are now extinct.
I have long argued, that the empathetic instinct, the one to protect each other, in human beings, is stronger than greed. If greed were the strongest, the human race would have vanished from the planet a long time ago.

I think we will survive, I hope so.

The human race is distinct, and is saved by a choice. Hope you all had a merry Christmas and great new year.

I agree with you. I am retired and want to start something. Like maybe a club that has to do with turning people's wasted energy into useful steps toward a goal of spreading out to other planets. Education would have to be the first thing we do. But I am not at all committed to that idea. I want to know from someone else where they think the world is at this point and what a starting place would be?

I think it could be a really fun thing to start. I am sure there are things others are doing but I say lets start something with the people from this site as they seem to be the right kind of people to do this. FUN! And lots of it!

If you are tired of commenting on just stuff then put your mind to use as a founding member of something positive. Lets get some names and thoughts of people who want to do something that is ours and go from there... WHAT DO YOU SAY???

Read some of the stuff in this post and then think about what you are doing these days.

If you feel like staring something that is yours (or ours) lets do it. We can start with a goal. I have suggested one I like but I don't care as long as it is something positive.

I'm board!!! I'm writing my second book which I have already been paid for. So I got that but after that I want something totally new, totally mine and the people I start it with, and totally fun!!!

Ra ra ra, shish coom bah (I have no idea how that old cheer used to go) wake up and join...

Ok, that totally sucked. I guess I won't be our motivator:):)

This is fun. I'm glad I started it. We are getting somewhere now!

The first way to see that humans move out into the cosmos would be the Hitler way. This way is simple. All we have to do is force everyone to work on our project or die. Of course that might take a lot of solders to control everyone and there goes a hole bunch of energy. Along with a few other things:):)

So we are making progress. Today we ruled out one possible method. Tomorrow, who knows? To the moon and back!!!

See ya all then:):)

Yeah, humans are the only species ever to exist that has the ability to screw the earth up so bad as to make all other mass extinctions pail in comparison to the man made mass extinction we are living in now.

lol... Says who… Humans? The Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, or Michael Mann, director of Pennsylvania State University, Kevin E. Trenberth of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, Raymond Pierrehumbert of the University of Chicago, Andrew Pitman of the University of New South Wales, Patrick J. Michaels or American Geophysical Union, or American Association for the Advancement of Science?
So what’s your answer? Kill everyone to save the earth?
Hard when you believe in nothing, isn’t it?

You don’t call 333,964 abortions for just Planned Parenthood alone in 2011 “population growth”?

No ,Abortions for birth control is stupid but not as stupid as outlawing abortions as as a feel good false sense of making abortion numbers go down.

Outlawing abortions is like outlawing guns. It worn't help.

I was referring to your solution to “humans are the only species ever to exist that has the ability to screw the earth up so bad as to make all other mass extinctions pail in comparison to the man made mass extinction we are living in now.” Where you brought up another problematic solution,“We could grow up and use our big brains to control our population growth.” To which you don’t agree, but don’t want laws against, yet you haven’t a solution to the first problem you set out… But what ever…

I agree with population control not abortions as a means of controlling population.

First problem? To late you already breed.

As did you, mr. awesome wife and great kids.

The truth is there is no problem... Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. THAT will solve our Nation's problems and God's there weather you like it or not... He's why we have our rights.

LOL so god prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion. What Bible verse covers this?

That humans have screwed up the earth is NOT a solution. It's a fact Jack!!! Controlling our population is the only solution I put forth.
