Get ready to pay more for your Grand Slam.
A Florida restaurateur who operates roughly 40 Denny’s locations and five Hurricane Grill & Wings franchises in Florida, Virginia and Georgia intends to add a 5 percent surcharge to customers’ bills to offset costs from ObamaCare beginning in January 2014 when the Affordable Care Act is fully implemented.
“People are trying to find ways to avoid the penalties and to avoid having to pay for ObamaCare,” John Metz told FoxNews.com .“Everyone’s looking for a way to not have to provide insurance for their employees. It’s essentially a huge tax on all us business people.”
To further offset the costs, Metz, who oversees roughly 1,200 employees as president and CEO of RREMC Restaurants, LLC, said he also will slash most of the staff's time to fewer than 30 hours per week. That change will be announced to employees next month, he said.

2 waitress's from Dennys in St. Louis had hours reduced from 37 hours a week to 22 hours a week. Soda, tea and coffee went up 20 cents.

I find the whole Obamacare issue ludicris. You force people who can't afford the cost of health care to pay a fine for not having it. Business owners are being blackmailed to either get health care for their full time employees or be fined "X" amount over so many full time employees. Now to protect the business's profit margin...they cut employee hours forcing them to find another part time job that's not out there to make up for the lost wages. Great plan Mr.President, stimulate the economy's growth backing cutting back on emploee working hours. I had this thought 40 years ago that everyone could have affordable health care by using the DSS health system plan. Everyone could sign up and paying a certain amount per family into it,,, co-pays adjusted by income. The stopper here is the medical profession wouldn't be able to fleece the system like it does today. And any business that adds a surcharge and cuts employee hours in the name of OBAMACARE, they will not see any of my money. I refuse to pay for the offense thrice...Losing hours to Obama care...having to get my own insurance or be fined by Obama care...and finally having to pay a surcharge to frequented businesses to cover their cost for the Obama care that forced me out work in the first place. Again Kudos to revitalizing the American economy.

OK so John is reducing the employee hours to 30 or less so he does not have to pay for insurance. Then he is adding a sircharge 0f .45 for 40 Denny's and .72 for 5ea hot wing and grills. look at this and see what he is realy doing. 40 denny's = more than 2000 customers a day, but we will use 2000. 2000 X .45 = 900.00 a day x 365 days = 328,500.00 a year. 5 hot wing joints should serve mor than 1000 customers a day, but, we will use 500 X .72 = 360.00 a day x 365 days = 131,400.00. Added to gether they = 459.900.00 a year. So now if you dont pay for your employees to have insurance, what do you do with the added 5000,000.00 dollers. Have a nice vacation John !

And thats just the short of it..But you dont see any of the unemployed obama supporters here complaining.

But there is a couple here reaping the benefits of obamanomics and will never amount to anything in their lives living on obamahandouts the rest of their lives.

I really dont think obama is going to last the entire 4 years..Ill bet he will get so buried in his own corruption that he cant get out of it.

Its already starting.
Obama has blood on his hands but yet chose to continue campaigning.

And then he blew off the flood victims except for a Kodak moment.

Any president in their right mind would be living amongst the flood victims helping them instead of leaving the country to continue his golf around the world tour.

The nations recovery depends on the sacrifices of us all.

For some, a $2 hike in your Denny's Grand Slam is your contribution to the fiscal future of a greatful nation.

hahahahaha

How hilarious is it for a bunch of righties to whinne about prices at Denny's after wanting to take food stamps away from millions of kids.

A big part of your problem is comprehension..

You have to actually comprehend the articles posted..I know you dont need to in Arkansas of Louisville..I mean why waste your time, Rite ?

I dont see "Righties whining"..I see articles about companies, By companies explaining their own opinions about what THEY AS COMPANIES are going to do due to obamacare laws destroying the economy..

I haven't taken the time, nor will I to review how many of these companies you point to as being Romney supporters. The chances are high I would expect that most if not all donated to his campaign and is now as bitter as any other rightie about the election outcome.

It would not surprise me in the least to find evidence of punishing workers for thier loss by these people considering that as I mentioned before, you wanted to take food from kids. Why would I be shocked to find right-leaning companies firing employees to off-set their wasted dollars spent on Romney?

Corporations, especially those of the rightwing support group have long been proponents of suggesting lay-offs if certain elections don't go their way. Those are usually made before elections, and were agaoin this year and have been documented by news medias. However, this time it seems that companies may very well carry out some of those threats in order to make examples for the next election.

After what I've seen from Republicans and Mitt Romney these past 2 years, you'll never convince me that the rightwingers aren't that dirty.

It's simple arithmetic really. Companies have to make a profit to stay in business. Publicly traded companies have a legal obligation to their shareholders to attempt to make a profit. A few companies pay all of their employees insurance premiums. Most pay a portion and the employees pay the rest. Many of these pay for the employee but the employee must pay for their family portion. Some, especially smaller companies make group insurance available but the employees pay the entire cost.

Obamacare mandates that the company pay a large portion of the cost of all full time employees AND their families or pay a large fine for every full time employee. Some companies can't do that and remain profitable. If they don't make a profit they go out of business and everybody loses their jobs. Some are trying to remain in business by cutting people back to under 30 hours so they are part time and don't fall under the law.

Now that we're stuck with Obamacare we're going to start finding out the consequences of it.

I handle the insurance where I work. I've researched this. It's a very bad law. I've been explaining it for a long time. I told everybody what Obamacare would do and nobody believed me. Now you're all going to find out the hard way I was right. Wages will drop, healthcare quality will deteriorate and it will cost you more.

Just watch, it's only starting.

Nah, this guy is working the system with smoke and mirrors. He's reducing hours so he doesn't have to cover the employees then, charging customers for an imaginary added overhead, it's a scam. He's the kind of capitalist that has driven moderates to Obama in the first place.

Denny's sucks to begin with so skipping a meal there is no big deal. Waitresses can get jobs anywhere.

Every one that works in these restaurant owned by John Metz should walk away from his or her job and no one else should start working for any of his businesses. Force them all to close.

In your dreams only. There's always a steady line of people wanting jobs in the service industry. It may not be the job they dreamed of,but the fact that they didn't take advantage of the educational opportunities available to them puts them in that rut until they decide to do something to pull themselves up and out. Otherwise, that's where they will stay.

And yet many a country with healthcare for all are kicking our asses?

It's like this Romney's Super PAC's commercial that really screwed up.In the commercial it said that America is not number one.flashed this list showing the United States as being number 7 on the list. Above the United States, Switzerland, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Germany. All socialist countries with public funded healthcare for all citizens.

All heading for bankruptcy. But that's okay because everyone is taken care of for NOW! Socialism isn't sustainable.
