Actually I was being generous...at \$14,500

The Federal minimum wage is \$7.25 an hour

\$7.25 x 40 hours =\$290.00

\$290.00 wkly. x 4 weeks in a month =\$1,160.00

\$1,160 a month x 12 months in a year =\$13,920

So tell us who can live on \$13,920 a year and in RespectLESS77's world be considered wealthy

40 hours x 52 pay roll weeks = 2080 hours

2080 hours x \$7.25 =\$15080

FYI. I lived on the minimum wage for several years!

CBO finds that raising the minimum wage to \$10.10 per hour would directly benefit 16.5 million workers.
I guess 16.5 million working poor AMERICANS would not consider themselves as a "select few"

How many low wage earners get paid by the month and or year?

Most likely they get paid bi-weekly at an amount of 80 hours x \$7.25 =\$580.00

\$580.00 x 2 =\$1,160 a month

\$1,160 a month x 12 months =\$13,920 a YEAR

WELL BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL!!!!!!

Even using your figures at \$15,080 is well below the poverty level

The Republicans failed to pass the minimum wage bill last month in a vote of 54-42. Even though the Democrats hold the majority in the Senate, supporters fell short of the 60 votes that would have been needed to end a procedural roadblock. Even though the Democrats have the majority, the Republican minority can say ‘no way, Jose’ and obstruct critical access that will help nearly 28 million Americans.

41 Senators, all Republican (with the exception of Reid’s NO vote as a procedural move) voted to deny 28 million workers a raise that over 70 percent of the country supports.

Republicans continuously complain that there are too many people on food stamps, too many people on welfare, too many people on unemployment, but they haven’t passed a SINGLE jobs bill.

Over 70 percent of AMERICANS support raising the minimum wage But the Republicans do not work for The American People they work for Corporations.

Vote in November the GOP establishment is DESTROYING our Nation!

I oppose government wage and price controls; the minimum wage only serves to help unions while minorities and unskilled workers are scrapped along the wayside.

The minimum wage mid term vote was a Harry Reed dog and pony show.

Why does Washington State have a minimum wage of \$9.32, and the city of Santa Fe have a minimum wage of \$10.32? Hmmmmm.

Where have you been for the past 7 years??? The false president is a Democrap/Socialist
and for 6 years the Democraps had been in charge of both houses, why didn't they pass the bill then???? A simple answer to a simple panicky Liberal, YOU. You are probably on Unemployment checks, plus Food stamps, plus working off the books making more money than when you had to work full time. Your refusal to take jobs in whatever capacity they are,
are the reason you are still unemployed. I was willing to work at McDonalds, Wendys,
Burger King, a grocery store, or shoveling crap gainst the tide, If the Unemployments offices would force those on Unemployment to report to the Unemployment office 2-3 times a week, and to take whatever job was available, then the Unemployment money would be available for your children and grandchildren. What part of economics don't you get???
YOU CAN NOT SPEND MORE MONEY THAN WHAT YOU ARE TAKING IN!!!!
And that is what the Democraps have been doing for the last 11 years. I guess Obama
and Hillary will blame George Bush for Benghazi rite??
Pray that the Republicans are put back into command and turn this country around. Obama is a Socialist out to reducing the USA to a third world country. What do they do in Russia
where their unemployment is three times the unemployment in the USA? They shoot them
and let them starve.

If people cannot make it in Centennial on \$15,500 the the city council need to set a minimum liveable wage, that makes it a local issue. By your argument if you want the Washington ass monkeys to set a liveable minimum wage it would have to be Zip code dependent.
Can you even begin image the work place chaos? The employee who works in Northglenn lives Aurora putting the same nut on the same bolt while making less than the employee living in Centennial.

Funny how it doesn’t address the 92 million of able Americans NOT working in the labor force, the highest since 1978!
“First, higher wages increase the cost to employers of pro-ducing goods and services. The employers pass some of those increased costs on to consumers in the form of higher prices, and those higher prices, in turn, lead the consumers to purchase fewer of the goods and services. The employers consequently produce fewer goods and services, so they hire fewer workers. That is known as a scale effect, and it reduces employment among both low-wage workers and higher-wage workers.

Second, a minimum-wage increase raises the cost of low-wage workers relative to other inputs that employers use to produce goods and services, such as machines, technology, and more productive higher-wage workers. Some employers respond by reducing their use of low-wage workers and shifting toward those other inputs. That is known as a substitution effect, and it reduces employment among low-wage workers but increases it among higher-wage workers.”

NET LOSS! But whatever right?… as long as we help very few Americans at the expense of those who work very hard to earn a living.

Unfortunately MOST workers do not GET 40 hours per week, so the 14,000.00 you claim is really 10-12 K per year. YEE-HA, we can go on vacation to the OZARKS and stay in a TENT we bought from the Good-Will store! The work schedule changes on people in the "food" industry, with a rotation every week to two weeks, and you don't know what it is until you go in on the day the schedule is posted or if you're working that day, you can take a gander at it before you travel home for over an hour...ESPECIALLY if you live in CO. LIFE is expensive when you have to try to put food on the table, clean your uniform, be healthy, be fit for the long hauls of energy one needs for the job,,...and you don't have your own washer dryer so that's a full day of travel back and forth IF you can't afford a car, insurance, etc., or on other transportation...while paying for a phone so your employer can reach you at their command, pay rent for the cigar box you live in, and if you have children? Really?@ 7.25 an hour? And some folks are afraid their Mc D's burger is going to go up in price? IF that happens SHAME on an industry who serves BILLIONS at any given location and pays its CEO's 1000% MORE than its workers! SHAME!
