Remember? What was the food like? Buffet? Where were they located?

I remember going to one as a kid at about Birch and Colfax in Denver. Great food for a kid in a typical 70's restaurant lay out much like Denny's or Village Inn now. In Arizona and California, they are Bob's Big Boy...think those are still around.

Judge, Birch and Colfax, not Colorado and Colfax? Not sure if Colorado comes in to the Birch area, but that's why I have the thread. I am not familiar at all with the area, and hope you all will help me help someone else. Did Azar's have a buffet? Good service, Bad service? Was Whitespot near or across the street? Also what type service and food was served at both locations? When do you figure these 2 closed up? Did Whitespot had another location closer to court house? 70's restaurant, begining, mid or end of 70's? Thanks

It might have been closer to Colorado on Colfax but not on the corner. There was a gas station there...so maybe Ash or Albion. The Whitespot I remember was further west on Colfax but couldn't tell you the cross street. As a kid in the mid to late seventies, I remember the service being pretty good...don't remember a buffet though. Like I said, the same style restuarant as Denny's or Village Inn...counter and dining area. I remember people calling them coffee shops back then but definately had a restauarant aspect to it too. Sorry that's about as much as I can help you with.

You're probably thinking of the Yum Yum Tree. There was one on South Colorado Blvd in Glendale. It was an international food court and a great game room. There was Chinese, German, Italian, Mexican and I think a buger place. It was gone by the 80's

Azar's in Boulder was not at all a good place to eat...When we stopped in for their Breakfast Buffet one Sunday morning, there were Cockroaches crawling amongst the serving area...Didn't stay long enough to taste anything...
Didn't Goodberry's on Old Wadsworth & Grandview used to be a Whitespot back in the day?...

(FYI The "Big Boy" Azar's used as a mascot is originally from "Bob's Big Boy" here in CA...

"Big Boy" was a franchise trademark. Any rest. could use it if they joined the franchise.

Azar's Big Boy was on west Colfax was just east of Garrison where the current vitamin cottage was. The best breakfast bar in town in the early 80s. I know because I cooked there for many years while attending college.

Can anyone tell me if there was a Big Boy in Littleton on south Broadway, across from Burt Chevrolet? I remember there being a Village Inn there, but not a Big Boy.
