Obviously every bad storm is gawd's wrath over marriage equality, not in any way related to greater temperature gradients brought about, in part, by climate change.

Obviously.

Also, I am actually Cardinal Law.

LOL at all these Colorado officials and judges trying to pass around the blame like a political hot potato if something goes wrong

Suthers concedes it's only a matter of time until gay marriage is legal in Colorado.

That's good enough for me.

The judge has said he will issue his ruling next Fri- (Jul 25th). The only question is whether he will stay his own ruling.

It's so strange that more and more of those in power positions are admitting that equality is inevitable, and that there's no argument to support denying it, yet they STILL seek to delay the inevitable as long as possible under the guise of "waiting until everything runs it's full course."

I get respecting the system and letting it work, but what's the point of purposely slowing it down? What does that ultimately get anyone?

Good point. Hate and pettiness usually do go hand-in-hand, don't they?

Topix has provided an unintentional bit of humor with its blurb for this story.

Ever heard of the wheels of justice? The system pays itself first.

That's weird that anyone could spend any amount of time here and not have noticed that robboblogger often hooks up the wrong subhead or lead sentence with the headline from the source.

BINGO!!!!

The anti-gays know their ONLY shot at stopping marriage equality nationwide is if they get the opportunity to replace either Ginsburg or Kennedy on the SCOTUS. That's why they are so desperate to take control of the Senate this fall, just in case there's a vacancy before the '16 election.

That's all the more reason to hope for a loss at the conservative dominated 5th or 6th or 7th appeals courts; it would ensure the current SCOTUS has to take a marriage case and resolve this BEFORE any such vacancy may occur.

Interesting scenario. Suppose they do? What if one of the justices drops dead? Then what?

You need to follow the basic outline of the conversation(s) before posting. I mean that in general.

The discussion is not about "one of" the Justices dropping dead.

Taking your deep confusion at face value, it would depend which Justice.

Also, going over what was already explained, the Senate is not now R. controlled. Neither Perry nor Bush is in the White House now.

The very premise was why the conservatives are trying to delay when it seems pointless whatever they do. The answer to that has been suggested several times by different people.

Why? Because you say so? I don't need to do anything. You replied didn't you?

Most SCOTUS rulings are 5 to 4. One justice passing away changes everything. Now who is not paying attention?

Please stop projecting. I changed the hypothetic situation. You asleep?

Perry and Bush are irrelevant so the hypothetic was equally irrelevant.

"The very premise was why the conservatives are trying to delay when it seems pointless whatever they do. The answer to that has been suggested several times by different people"

Your final statement was brilliant. Too bad you included a bunch of ad hominem BS which took away from your main point.

If that should happen, the Republicans in the Senate will filibuster any attempt by President Obama to fill any vacancy on the court until after the 2016 election on the hopes a Republican gets elected President.

Vacancies on the SCOTUS are not unprecedented; we've gone as long as 2 years with a vacancy in the past- 2 yrs, 3 mos., 23 days.

The GOPasaurs have nothing to lose by filibustering any Obama nominee until after the '16 election.

I agree. Republicans only obstruct everything which is possible. Republicans are regressive.
