No one speaks Spanish -- it's Mexican

You need not go to Spain to learn that the Spanish language is classified as a "Mexican language" by the European countries, including Spain. via El Paso Times

There are many dialects of most languages. I had a hard time at first understanding England english and Spain spanish is different from Mexican spanish. Just listen to flamenco music and get a Mexican to try to translate it.

It's roots are of Spanish orgin, it was Spain who ruled over Mexico, it is the Spanish language. You don't go to school and learn Mexican, Panamanian, Cuban or whatever, that is just crazy. As for Spain they say it is Spanish but a very poor improper version, much like red neck Yankee American English. The Brits know the American messed up their language with their rubbish speaking abilities. But they do not deny it is English indeed!

Language is always evolving, any language. As we go global we learn new dialects of our neighbors, some not so close, yet that is the beauty of philology. I have been told I speak an archaic Spanish. It works for me and I still do not give up in communicating. I have had teachers say Castillian is the correct, but what about Galician, Catalan and Basque and God knows what else we brought here long ago. Lets just get over it, when in Rome do as the Romans do and so forth, worldwide!

I don't like pachucismos , but I understand some. I don't have to use them, however. Viva la diferencia, y viva culturas, but let's keep talking, or trying. Respect one another, always.

I heard and learned to understand Galician much more readily than I do Spanish (Mexican), although Galician is quite different from Castillian Spanish. So how does Madrid communicate with the rest of Spain? In Mexican?

According to this article I (from Mexico)would not be able to communicate with my parents who are from Spain.

The only thing that really annoys me is when people say "carpeta" instead of alfombra.

In Colombia they don't call the language Espanol,
they call it "castellano". I have not yet heard that the Spanish call their own language "Mexican".

But soon you will find "ebonics" classified as a real language. What next ? Chimplish?
