'Hobbits' not a different species, say scientists

The long-running debate about the existence of so-called hobbits of Indonesia has taken a new turn with a study that suggests these ancient people were not an unusual species of human.

So, are the hobbits real? I thought they just live in Lord of The Ring stories.
Indonesia? I've heard certain of them named habbit,if I'm not mistaken as 'orang bunian'.
It is just like folks, many of Indonesian themselves seems think so. Another extreme version said that the 'hobbit' is a kind of spiritual creatures, ermm, maybe something such a ginny maybe.
But actually scientists say it just human too.
Isolated human who lives in jungle?
interesting.

Pygmies are physically healthy humans, hobbits (in this new theory) are claimed to be physically disabled.....

Please I don't belive this...I mean they did a bunch of studies on the cranium to prove that the brain was diferent from those suffering from microcephaly.A person suferring from this disease has a realy small brain, and this creatures' brains had a big frontal lobe meaning they were inteligent beings (compared to some human ansestors living about the same time). Also this people were very balanced as of proportion.Meaning they looked like little humans as oposed to dwarves or some pygmies. Also there are lots of bone pieces from many indibiduals not just one or two...so are you telling me all this people sufered from the same thing and all of them desided to live together in the same place?I know it is inherited but...all of the tribe?

There are numerious studies and papers and theories that have been put forth by those whose religious rigidity precludes them to find such things as Neanderthal to be nothing more than a normal human with bone diseases and such. And while this could be true. I find it hard to swallow that everyone of the skelital remains that have been un-earthed have been so uniformly deformed by these random diseases. As is the case of the Hobbits, they are all uniformly de-formed the same, which to me says that they are [were] a race of human........ how they got the itty bittys I cannot say.

Yes, let’s give them a 5 million dollar grant to study this useless bit of tripe and while we’re at it I need a 10 million grant to study beer and women!

Everyone has their own hobbits. There's nothing wrong with that. They just need to get rid of their bad ones.

The only reason this got any attention was by naming them hobbits. Simple human variations can account for any number of geneic differences. If a food souce is close to the ground or in caves the natural selection would be for smaller humans. Without shoes the tendancy for large feet means fewer pain receptors when walking on rocks.

Humans have been around for lot longer than we are ready to acknowledge religo-political reasons.
Some day it will be revised.
