We lived in Babehausen from 2003-2006. My family actually was one of the last families to leave Babenhausen before they turned it back to the German government. It was very hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful place. We loved it their and miss it very much. All the locals were very kind and we loved traveling and seeing new exciting things. I was very happy that my children got to experience such a great place, and they will always remember it.

I served in A btry 4/27 from late 1992 to late 1994, I did alot of growing up on that post. I found out about the closing on this web sight. It makes me very sad, I had plans to go visit the old post sometime in the next few years I wonder if people are still allowed on it? Kind of ironic at the time I couldn't wait to leave that place now I want to return!

Wow, I served in Babenhausen from 1988-1990 with HHB 4-77FA. When I first got there it looked so small. But after 2 years there, it was my home. I think about it often and remember the good days I spent there.

I was stationed at the Babenhausen Kaserne in 1962, with the 157th Ordnance Detachment. We supported the 1/38 Arty BN with their Corporal missiles. Babenhausen was a charming little town back then.

I was stationed at Babenhausen with HHB 2/83 as an Artillery Surveyor from 1971 to 1973. I had many fond memories of that post and always had plans to go back one day. That happened this past week while traveling with my family. What I got to show them was a view from the main gate of total desolation. It was disheartening to see empty buildings, grass higher than your knees and junk laying around. I talked with a local in Babenhausen and he told me the town is in sad shape also. Many businesses are closed and a lot of unfinished construction because of no money.

I was stationed there from summer 1992-1994, 77th Maint Co. Had a blast with the women and the beer! Hated to run P.T. around the airfield and woods!

We lived there from 83-86. Great memories. Learned to ride a bike there. Our building was right next the woods. We would get in so much trouble going out there and exploring until after dark. I went to the elementary school on the post. I remember taking field trips into town. I saw Gremlins in the theater. Scared the crap out of me! Man, I would love to go back. Feels like more like a dream than reality.

I also called Babenhausen home for several years (1993-1995) while serving with 4/27FA C-Btry. I met alot of good people and had alot of good times on that post and across the street at Cheers. I often reminisce about those days and am sorry that I did not stay in contact with more friends from the past!

I served with the 77th maint co from 91 to 93. At first I hated the place, but it grew on me after a while.Nowadays I think back to the times I had there and realize what all I had left behind.
