Scott and TS- the picture we took was too late and didn't show the cat. On another note, I spoke to a reporter for the Allen American and he told me that he has run up against the same skepticism regarding area Mountian Lions from teh TDWL, the City, and Animal Control. He said that he spoke to Jim Dunlap about this (from Plano's Outdoor Learning Center) and that JD had also experieinced this "when he was open about Mountian Lions in Collin OCunty." He told me that Jim Dunlap said he just doesn't talk about it anymore, but they are indeed here.

The thing that really got our attention about this cat was, besides its size, its long tail. It was definitely not a bobcat.

Beth from Allen wrote: Actually I totally agree that the mountain lion belongs here, it was here first, small pets are part of the food chain, this is its habitat, and yadda yadda yadda. I just had no idea that there were Mountain Lions around here...coyotes, bobcats, possums, raccoon, etc--yes, but this Mountain Lion was a surprise to me. Further, every agency I contacted told me that I had seen a bobcat, and that there "are no Mountain Lions around here" (according to them). Yeah--that is why it had a long tail--it was a bobcat. So--the official agencies tell me I am stupid or crazy, the loonies on this board jump to the assumption that my children are spoiled, my dog should be eaten, and I am in favor of running the wildlife out of their habitat, and ALL I WANT TO DO IS LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT WE SAW SO THAT THEY WILL BE AWARE AND RESPECTFUL OF SUCH ANIMALS, as we are on their turf, and yes indeed, they did come first. That being said, now that we are here too, awareness is key. I resent both the implication that I don't know what we saw AND that since I did see it and tried to get the word out that my children and pets should be a meal for such animals. Oh, and btw, Back to Good--my 13 yo does indeed go with friends to the creek when he goes. I am not sure why you would assume otherwise. I live in Twin Creeks as well and as a mother and a dog owner I appreciate you letting us know. Don't listen to the other people they don't even live here! Thanks for the info. I jog that trail several days a week and will now use my treadmill instead.

U people don't know what a L I O N or a bobcat looks like.. Travel to the real country down in the deep woods.. Then maybe U'll get a look - only there they won't just lay & look at you.. If they're hungry, they'll hunt you down, just as they do the baby calves, goats, and dogs in the area.. as said before, their habits are being taken over with concrete.. The good Lord created them to live in the wild and serve their part of the chain, Not on Hwys & Concrete & Neighboods full of City Slickers - "Happy Jogging"

Anyone who does a little research will find that North Texas is not a a territory that mountains roam.
Why are there no pictures of this big cat? Why is there no video footage? Why does this big cat disappear just before anyone can take a picture?
It all sounds about like the UFO believers.
