What would MEXICO do if eleven million American citizens marched in the streets of Mexico City, demanding THEIR RIGHTS as "native peoples"?
The problem is the immigration system.
If you have a beef, it's with the system that makes it impossible to come to America legally without great wealth and several years waiting period.
These cities and towns are bleeding red ink and this is the only way that they can deal with the problem, by ENFORCING and REINFORCING LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS.

How would making english the official language of FB help? You speak what you want to the people that understand you. How would dropping recreational activites for immigrants help the city of Farmers Branch? People that utilize the recereational facilities have to pay, member dues and or class fees. An illegal immigrant as Tim says does not care about home value, paying taxes etc etc, would not care to join the Rec centers either. Ofcourse no one wants Free loaders. So his answer is put them in jail (any criminal for that matter) so my tax dollars can pay for them to watch tv and get physicaly fit and have decent meals everyday not to mention health care. Put them in a dump of a place no hot meals no hot water, Bare essentials. Make the prison a prison, not a retreat.
The route to go is have FB code enforcement step up so that property values can rise. Pay teachers more to educate our children, incentives for better scores for the teacher not the government run school districts. Show the illegals how to become legals so employers can give them a decent wage and they can pay so called taxes. I thought they paid taxes everytime they bought goods or services. You make it sound as if an immigrant says I am going to stay Illegal so I won't have to pay taxes. The employer registers with IRS to have dollars withheld for taxes. Does the immigrant have a choice? Think it out. Landlords pay taxes on the properties they have for rent I am sure they have included that in the rent fee, they are in it to make money not give money away just to illegal immigrants. YES fine the people that employ Illegals, but don't take it out on the illegal they are trying to make a living without raising the crime rate. Its the employer that is trying to get ahead by cheating the worker and the IRS.
The main point is YOU step up and make this a better country than it already is by HELPING others. We are all people, UNIFY!!!

Have you entered this country legally? Are you an American citizen?

If yes to both, then you have a voice. If no, your voice belongs in the country in which you are a citizen.(period, the end)

What part of illegal don't people get? How is it fair for people who do not go through the immigration process to be entitled to anything? Get in line behind all others who are trying to come here for the same thing, jobs, opportunity. I am so tired of hearing that these poor illegal immigrants need rights. Sorry, but people who break the law have no rights. I am a naturalized US citizen and proud of it. However, when I came to this country I was told that English was spoken here and before I could take the oath of citizenship, I and all the other legal applicants had to take a test that we could read and write English and we also had tests on American history.
Why is it that bilingual means English/Spanish when there are millions of us who are bilingual but speak no Spanish.
Anyway, we need more people in the US like the FB council member who had the guts to propose action where the federal government has failed.

You should check your numbers. I know first hand what illegals do to our economy. I have lost my business because illegals, who are to ignorant to know better, accept work in this country for less than minimum wage. I employeed LEGAL citizens and I paid them very good wages and did not over work them. But thanks to the huge number of illegals that have flooded this country all my workers are unemployed. Now I don't just blame the illegal ass', I believe that is the word you chose to mean ignorant, I blame our govt. for not enforcing the laws that are in place. The govt. enables the financial enslavement of the illegal workers by not making them responsible for their actions. Why is it that mexican americans want to defend the right of an illegal to be able to work for these slave wages. Wouldn't it serve the immigrant population better if cities, like Farmers Branch, held businesses accountable for their actions. I guaranty that if any business gets hit with fines like FB is proposing, they will not be hiring people at slave wages anymore. They will be forced to hire legal citizens at fair wages to do the work and more legal citizens will have jobs. You say that no legal citizen will work for the wages that are being paid, well no f'n duh! Would you be willing to work 12 hours a day on a hot roof for $50.00. I don't think so. Businesses are profiting off the backs off the illegals and its high time someone said enough! Continue your way of thinking and all the illegals that are here will soon be given the privalage of being US citizens, but only to find that they will have a future of low pay because they have to compete against the new wave of illegals that are stealing there jobs.
