Tour of California returns to Santa Cruz

Full story: Santa Cruz Sentinel

Lance Armstrong and the Amgen Tour of California will roll through Surf City again next year, and supporters hope the new May date will draw twice the number of spectators as this year's event when 15,000 people watched top cyclists whiz across the finish line on a rainy February day.

If they (Messick of AEG S[ports and the Tour) can raise the total amount necessary to run the AMGEN Tour without costing the taxpayer a single dime, good for them! If not, Hasta La Vista Baby! Take your tricycle show somewhere else!

They have already privately raised 160k of the necessary 245k to put on the stage and the race isn't for another 8 months... I don't see how it could cost the city anything at this rate... I can only see a major local economy boost to bring Santa Cruz into Summer.

I'll be coming in from out of town to see this again, if that helps anyone offset any costs.

Yeah, if they can't raise the money, they can take their "tricycle" race and go to beautiful downtown Dixon, CA. Where the heck is Dixon, anyway?

This is a no brainer to bring tourism to the city. Last year when I watched the race, I couldn't believe how pretty even downtown looked. This is an international event and just showcases once again that the city can't see the forest through the trees. Thanks to local donors for taking up the slack! Now, if only there were some nice hotels for them to stay at....

This is a perfect event for Santa Cruz and will again showcase this town and bring international cycling stars including Lance Armstrong who this time I learned are staying overnight here.

The fact that this won't cost the city a dime is pretty incredible.Yeah thanks to our local donors and the people working on this!

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Cancer

You feel the urge to move onward, powered by your wisdom: when you're right, you're right. You may feel that any further explanation is unnecessary, but the people you're dealing with might need it spelled out for them. Take the time to draw a picture or use smaller vocabulary words to get your point across, Cancer. A public demonstration will probably prove to be the last word on the subject.
