Tour of California returns to Santa Cruz

Full story: Santa Cruz Sentinel

Lance Armstrong and the Amgen Tour of California will roll through Surf City again next year, and supporters hope the new May date will draw twice the number of spectators as this year's event when 15,000 people watched top cyclists whiz across the finish line on a rainy February day.

It'll be awesome to have the race come through here again! I hope sponsors can raise a lot of money so the city doesn't have to chip in.

Could we put together a better advertising poster this year? Geeze Louise...last year's was a joke! Oh, don't get me wrong...it was a nice picture...nice colors...but it did nothing to advertise the event. This is a world-class event with the world's greatest cyclists participating. And Santa Cruz advertised the event with a poster that basically says..."Dude, grab your surfboard, hop on your cruiser, and catch a knarly wave." It took about 2 months for me to notice that the poster was for the Tour de California race. At least put a road bike on the poster! Talk about keeping the place weird! sheesh

Oh dang, not again. It is a pain in the arf for people who live on and near the rural public roads used for the race.

They should drop in to Reno, or pass Mono Lake...

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Libra

Remember that life isn't all fun and games: handle your responsibilities first, then plan how to have a good time. Your impulses, once you yield to them, will have a tendency to lead you further and further from where you need to be. Make sure you lock the door behind you before disappearing; when you're in this kind of mischievous mood, you probably won't want anyone else to know where you're going.
