What a hypocrite Bettini is!! Here he is, telling everyone that if he won't give DNA. Yet he has the nerve to criticize Basso for not giving up DNA until the courts ask him to!
For all we know mysterious "Birillo" on operation puerto could very well have been Bettini!! Both names begin with "B" and have 7 letters, and Bettini also happens to be Italian and is having one of the best years in his career now that he's a 2006 world cycling champion!
Maybe this is the real reason Bettini doesn't want his DNA analyzed???
Hmmmm....just something for people to think about.

The most admirable similarity between Basso and Bettini is that both race for family. I believe that Pantini and other lesser known Italian riders, who are proven to be dopers, are few and far between. There is not the evidence of drug use as wide spread in Italian cycling as there is in say, French, American, or Spanish cycling. To Bettini, I am besides myself with joy to see this accomplished cyclist put an additionasl jewel in his crown of great achievement. Basso, I welcome him to our home team and applaud Discovery for understanding that, in America, it is innocent until proven guilty. I really hope for the best for all the Protour teams and can't wait to see all again this year.

I was just trying to prove a point...that the whole operation puerto investigation has become totally absurd!
You have code names like "Birillo" being associated with Basso because supposedly he has a dog named birillo...he later proved he never had a dog with this name. Furthermore, he has publicly stated he will provide DNA if asked by the courts to do so.
Now we have Bettini, a rider who publicly states he will never provide DNA if asked to do so. "Bettini" could easily have been the mysterious "Birillo".
His name begins with B, and like Birillo, "bettini" has 7 letters, and suddenly after a long dry spell, Bettini has a fantastically winning 2006 season--after which he (Bettini)says: "Thanks, I've won my races, I'm quitting in 2007 and you can't get any of my DNA and you can't test me for drugs"???!.
AND then Bettini has the nerve to blast Basso for operation puerto even though Basso was willing to give DNA and has since been cleared from operation puerto??? Who is the guilty one now?
You can go on and on...Bettini could easily have been implicated in the investigation instead of Basso. That's how ridiculous the whole operation puerto case has become.
Why don't the organizers and the investigators just decide that they made early and false accusations, and begin with a clean slate for the 2007 season?

When this al staretd and everyone thought that Brillo was Ivan Basso, I researched for myself. I found an interview with Ivan Basso's lawyer who stated that Ivan's dog isn't named Brillo. He further explained that as he's been at Ivan's home several times, he has heard Ivan's daughter (3yrs old) call her dog by it's real name. Does anyone really think that a three year old child is going to be involved in a conspircy of covering up for her Dad?
